    MP3 Player

Do you have one in your car, which one?

    Panasonic cq-rdp472n

I've had that one a while now but it seems to be struggling on more tracks more and more often, it is almost like it doesn't like certain sounds, even after re-encoding in different bit rates, writing the CD at different speeds and writing from different PC's.

    So, what ya got?

I've got the Sony CDX MP40... it's great, sounds good and looks good. Very unique with white on blue screen and red lights surrounding the main screen goes well with my red car and other dash lights.

I paid £135 about a year ago (probably more), price matched at Halfords. Was £250 at the time. It also comes with a remote which is good for back seat passengers and also me, as I dont take my eye of the road

ooo, it does look smart and would look better in my car than the panasonic (not that it matters, honest )

Any problems at all? Like struggling to play a track?

Edit: It doesn't have MP3 playback capabilities... But oh well

Its quite cool when you press open and it flips down too

I think it's discontinued now as the new Xplod range is out. However they have an updated one which one of my mates have. It's practically the same firmware, but a white on black background. I prefer mine that the newer one (sorry don't know the model number).

No problems as of yet... Quite quick loading the next track, you can put your mp3s into folders on the discs and it loads them as albums, so you can shuffle the 'album', just play that album, or shuffle the whole disc.

The only thing which I would like improving is the speed it takes to find the next track on shuffle mode. If you have a lot of songs it can sometimes take 1 full second.

Same unit as Leadhead, no problems playing MP3s either

Its a very nice unit, only reading delay is when you first turn on and it scans the CD for all tracks, from then on its very quick, no stutters at all.

Lol - I got identical looking unit in black, but no mp3. Was 65 quid though and let me play cds (half price at argos, also saved 20 quid on decoding the old stereo)
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.

    £450! : o
Looks almost exactly the same as the one that came with the BMW (though it wasnt mp3)

If I get one, it'll be the Sony CDX MP40 unless someone can recommend one that has one of those remotes that you fix to the steering wheel
