Lol i did notice that windscreen washing works as a wave along the length of a motorway - one person starts it - next gets some of it so washes himself, and so on. Never thought of it as a deterrent to tailgaters, but now that you mention it... Better make sure my washer fluid is full before journeys - cos i am gonna need it. Shame my wipers are crapOriginally Posted by rj45ethernut

Best thing with tailgaters? Slow down.. they soon get the message
Happened to me on the A17 heading to Sheffield on Friday, all I could see in the rear view was AINACS (SCANIA) from this dimwit in an artic.. now, it's only a single carriageway and this idiot is right on my bumper while we're doing 60.. So I slow down.. and a bit more and a bit more until we're only doing 35, I stick there for 30 seconds or so, then I drop a cog and leave him for dead.
He got the message and left a proper gap from then on
Re: Police Idiots, take down the registration and report them for dangerous driving and tailgating, if they get enough complaints they'll soon stop doing it (and wasting taxpayers money on tarted up cars!)

I have a mate whos a policeman not on traffic though. But i remember him saying that when they do something like this they rely on you admitting speeding as they cant use onboard cameras as a speed camera. Was a while ago so maybe its changed, but if it happens just say you thought you were doing around 70 and see if it works.
Nasty ain't it.
Additional tips -
1. The camera they carry often replaces the rear-view mirror but is far more substantial. If you think it might be a cop have a good look.
2. Beware Vauxhall Omegas and Volvo V70's.
Yesterday in MK a plain Omega with grill lights (behind not integrated) had pulled someone on my run home.
Other cars I've seen as cops (plain clothed traffic cops) -
Volvo S60
Honda Accord Type R
The oddest one was an old (E39?) 5-series BMW (seen about 5yrs ago). It was about 10 years old in plain red with trims on the M5. Looked like a poverty-spec 520i but I suspect at least a 535i in reality. It was unusual because of its age as the cops do loads of driving and like to have the best motor they can get to avoid a dodgy back etc
I've also been in a very strange 85mph convoy on the north section of the M25 before. Me and two vectras, almost identical but for their colour, late at night when the road was otherwise empty. I was doing 90, they materialised, one over took and backed off while the other slowed up and hovered behind me. Hugely suspicious I dropped to 85 as the road was nice and quiet and I was driving quite smoothly. They stuck with me for quite sometime.....before leaving the mway together, in convoy.
Hmmmm
