Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

Bad weather often produces unexpected results, things should settle down when the European rounds get underway.

The conditions in Malaysia clearly suited Alonso and Perez. Looks like it could be a close session with at least five or six different race winners, especially with changeable conditions.

Good race this morning (well the last 15 laps were good rest was processional).

Good to see Rosberg finally break his duck and win a race. Deserved that one, was faultless from Qualifying onwards, pretty much untouchable for the duration of the race. Nice recoveries from the McLaren boys maximising points and leading both championships (drivers 1-2).

Yeah, glad to see Rosberg get a win too, although I would've like to see what Button could've done if he hadn't been held up with that slow pit stop.

Did anybody catch qualifying today? I missed it and have only seen the final times.

So anybody that saw it, what chance of a redbull comeback is there as I saw it was RBR 1,3 ? Or was it just lucky laps?

Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

Qualifying was very close but it's genuine times, not luck. Looks like Red Bull are back on the pace this weekend. Will be interesting to see how that translates into race pace though, hopefully we'll get an interesting race here this year.

Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

Don't like Vettel much but good to see the McLaren's still close. Red Bulls are 10kmh down in the speed traps, with similar looking race pace to McLaren so should be easy to pass with DRS (but not for Bulls). Bulls therefore may struggle in traffic which will be encountered with the number of pitstops planned.

Pretty shocking treatment of Force India after their no show in FP2. No coverage today at all.

Not surprised. FOM won't be getting any viewing from me this weekend.

Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

So if Hamilton and button can make it through the bulls early enough, they should be able to get away (break the tow and 1s gap for drs) they should be able to pull away.

I would like to see Lewis win tomorrow as his attitude this year is completely different from last year.

With the mercedes in mid field they will get more of a chance to use their "drs +" compared to last week. so will be interested to see how that plays out.

Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

Last year I'd have been disappointed with a race like todays, within the first two laps it was pretty obvious that barring a pit stop problem or incident Vettel was probably going to be virtually untouchable out in front and that Mclaren seemed nowhere near the pace expected after qualifying... An all too familar set up for people familar with last season..

And then came Lotus and Kimi for a nail biting chase

It was genuinely heart warming to see the Lotus name up there with the front runners and not just because I said they'd be one to watch and I enjoy being right either

Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

Was good race I thought. I think Force India got rough treatment again today. Don't think I saw Hulkenberg(who was very critical of going at all) the whole race and Di Resta was in 4th(to my total surprise) before he was shown, seemed like they just couldn't film around him any more. Loved his double pass. Touch of class.

Nico seems to have gotten a big confidence boost from his win. Not seen him be that aggressive before that I can remember, amazed he got away with it tbh. Not that it slowed Lewis down

Re: The Official F1 2012 Season Discussion Thread

I'm a BBC viewer, and this 'delayed broadcast' business is frustrating the hell out of me... and yet I must admit that watching 1 hour of highlights vs 1hr50 of a full race does concentrate the excitement. I really enjoyed yesterdays race, but noticed quite a few times a 5 laps suddenly disappeared at the top - didnt feel that I missed very much. But i do hate the delayed broadcast.
    Wont pay for Sky though.

Other than that, go Lotus! Impressive stuff, well done them.
Am also loving the different winners and the changes at the top of the leaderboard. This is not going to be a predictable season (although the winner will be Hamilton or Vettel)
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

There's injuries at William's according to the beeb. Hope every ones OK.

Apparently it was a KERS explosion, which could be very bad, as it's right under the fuel tank.
