    Hazard perception test

    ROFLMAO

Just took the mock hazard perception test and guess what!

Clip number four was a road that i take every day to come to uni. Basically the whole thing was filmed in and around swansea - they had the old block of flats i lived in, my mates bin bags next to his house and loads of familiar places.

Apparently the proper test might have different clips but i believe they would be around swansea too.

Watch out for clip "Carnglas, Waunarlwydd Road" - thats the road i take through hills to go to uni. It has a hairpin on it

Just so funny to see all the local places.

Oh, and i failed by 2 points. Which annoyed me as i am sure i clicked on the lolly-pop lady immideatelly. Do they measure responce in nanoseconds?

i never had to take the hazard perception test im an old git!

but from my experience with driving tests and theory tests they are all far too easy......... Passed first time for both tests....

A level's are too easy.... so are driving tests........ lets crack em up and make em mega hard!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you do a hazard perception test then XTR. I found theory to be dead easy. But the hazard perception is probably even more difficult for more experienced drivers. Partly because clicking is not the responce you would normally do. Partly because you are aware of a situation and therefore don't necessarilly find it hazardous. Also its not like you just click on anything that moves. You see it, then you think can i call this a hazard or not and then you click. Whereas they just want you to click immidiatelly.

I done a load of mock theory tests when i was getting prepared for mine - never failed a single one of them.

no, they have scoring zones, so you get 5 points if you spot it right away, and 4 points for spotting it later and 3 for even later and so on, so the secret is to click each hazard twice, but dont double click the mouse as the computer can identify a double click

i have a copy of all 3 cd's somewhere, i did it last year for my PCV test so mines is more HGV/BUS related

My tip for the hazard test....just click once every 2 or 3 seconds regularly. See on ur mock test if that works....its should do

I know that. But with the lollypop lady clip it seemed that i pressed immidiatelly and yet i scored 1 point. This makes me think that the zones are spaced in nanoseconds.

I do not like the fact that you have to think whether this is a developing hazard instead of just clicking it if you do it properly. It does appear that clicking everything that moves or stands out a couple times is the best policy.

I think they should let you do a dry run on a couple of clips and let you see how you scored and only then have you do the test. I am not sure if thats the way they do it already but it just seems to be a test where you are tested on understanding the test rather than the hazards.

Have taken it again. Passed. Was quite close to not passing again, but there were 2 clips when the video would freeze while pc was reading from the cd drive and they got wasted

I have had my license for 4 years now and have no need of it, i just wanted to see what its like and whether i would pass.

    Well, its pants.

    And i didn't.

I think they should let people have a go with 3-5 videos before taking the test itself. And i also hope that video quality of real tests is better, coz this was not too good to be honest.

Still amuses me that they have our roads there. Saw the road i take on the way home while doing the test the second time.

If they had an examiner sit next to you with you explaining the hazards - and him scoring you - now that would be a useful test. Maybe let you pause video when u see the situation, explain what u want to say and then continue.
