    Class 1 cars

Just planning ahead but, I was wondering what sort of cars I could/should be looking at for when I start to drive as I will never get insurance on a Peugeot V6 Coupe and am after a car anyway.

Anyone know of a list of Class 1 cars or can anyone recommend a decent car for when I start to drive. I was thinking along the lines of a Renault Clio but didn't know if it was class 1.

    Cheers

^^ depends on engine spec tho, the lowest power engine in the model range

Looking at a 1.0 litre engine basically mate.

Corsa 1.0 is a 3 cylinder...lots of people hate it.

Clio 1.2 is the way to go...but it has to be BASIC MODEL for low insurance.

Remember....engine size is not al the story.

If it was, then a 1.0 Metro on a D reg would be cheaper to inusre than Clio 1.2,,but it aint.

You'd probably find the new Panda would go a lot better than the Corsa with the 3cyl engine as mentioned above - I've driven a few of the Corsa's and the only one I could have put up with was the 1.2 16v and that's a no no for the insurance But Fiat are one of the best for making a small engine feel like it's got a fair bit of poke, small cars is what they do... Panda, Cinquecento, Seicento, 126, 127.....

Suzuki Ignis? No idea what the insurance is but it might be worth a look.

    Also

Kia Picanto just got Autocars best budget car in the UK. It's less than 5.5k new and likely the insurance is miniscule as well.

    Diahatsu Charade?

Again unknown insurance but likely to be reasonable.

Unfortunately no. With 100bhp that's a far more serious motor and finding an un-mashed one is extremely difficult.

I actually mean the current model

Just out of interest why not a KA? Don't judge that car till you've driven it.

As for a good small car, having been in a few my favourite is the 1.2 Clio...feels big inside and is smooth, can't go wrong

I have a KA tho and i think it is fantastic...plenty of speed, and gets there at a good rate...nice sized engine for Motorway/Dual Carriageway driving [1.3] or for town driving...low insurance...and drives like a bit like a go-kart
