Jaaaag XE?

3l Supercharged S is £44k, but you can probably bargain down. Alternatively, there's a 240hp 2.0l petrol for £33k in Portfolio spec, which seems to have all the bells and whistles...

I have the 200ps version of this, in R-Sport though as you get better toys and a much nicer body kit - wonderful car, cheaper than the equivalent spec Audi/BM, much more interesting and they really do drive well. Still RWD and even the 200ps version goes like stink when you put it into Sport + Dynamic mode I had an M135i before this, and I don't miss it.....It also has all the comfort you would expect from a Jag - I stick mine into "eco" mode and float along to work in the mornings
You can get an R-Sport Petrol 200ps with some options on it for under £30k. It's a lot of car for the money! Discounts are limited to around 10% as demand is huge though - you have a 3-6 month wait depending on specification at the moment. These pics don't do it justice really but from when I picked it up a few months ago...http://imgur.com/a/jDTi5
Only £30k for a new Jag that does 75mpg combined? I hadn't realised they were quite that reasonable or quite that efficient.
Sadly, it looks like they've stopped doing the Estate? Not that I can afford to even think about owning a Jag, but I don't half fancy a Jag estate as a luxurious yet practical family car....
The XE estate is expected to be available for order mid next year, alongside a 480bhp XE R-S model. The Estate should still be under £30k for the base spec, rumours are around 28k..
F-Pace will be the next model, and then the Ingenium petrol engines, followed by the estate.
Specs have changed a bit since the original post. I'm not looking new now as I need a car within a couple of weeks rather than in 3-6 months (due to not having a car at all atm). Also budget is reduced as I'm looking to move house soon so need more spare cash for that; think £20k max.
Have a test drive of a GT86 this weekend, it's looking like the favourite so far.
Also those quoted figures for the Jags look a bit optimistic for real world... 35 mpg from a supercharged 3 litre V6? Seems unlikely I have to say.

Alfa Brera, this one has the proper Alfa 1750 turbo engine in it which is fairly rare.
£13K, 31K miles, 200bhp, so damned pretty... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...01510258139068

skoda octavia VRS, 2010, £2000 on ebay, £1000 for carbon brakes, and 200 mph with gold rims
Sod it...
Buy a BMW 335d touring.
It'll re calibrate your understanding of fast.

Octavia vRS is 200 bhp with a 0-60 of around 7 seconds, the only way it would see 200 mph is if you dropped it out of a plane.
335d is 286 bhp (or a bit more for the new shape) and 0-60 in 6 seconds (4.8 for new shape). Fast, but no faster than my S3.
i'd suggest go for a Toyota then rebuild and upgrade parts
the rules for british touring car and most touring car league`s are abit like nascar where a set amount of the car has to be from the road car, but the percent can be anything, so in the VRs terms, its 95% of the engine
