Question Astra Digi Dash - techie

Oops - someones just had an idea
Back in the good old days I had a 16v Astra - one of the first and a bit of a beast....
Now for some reason I just had a thought about the dash and errr had a crazzzzy idea to stick a digi dash into the dragster crazy huh!
Anyone who what triggers these babies, and is it possible to split the PCB as I will have my own rev counter
    Cheers
    Iain

Oh sweet.... I've always loved digital dashboards... From the moment I saw it on my dad's Tipo years ago...

But yeah, I guess all those complicated electronics could be a little more temperamental than a simple mechanical dial

    god thats nice

thats like the finest amps in the world...just a volume and a source button.

thats just a rev counter, two lights, and a digi readout for whatever you might need.

    thats lovely.

Hmm - been having a think and had a talk with my sparkie... and though do-able, im going to import some more bits from the US
Will be individual digi gauges - which if all goes well, should look nice in the carbon dash and at least it should all connect up to my engine and box without any issues
Thanks for your input lads - appreciated as always

I don't like the stack, but I have seen a dash with an LCD display and a separate module taking input from the senders and running the display.. I think it was on an Ultima GTR (I'm planning my build!).

Yup they're a lot of money, but by golly are they good.
Only display what you need to know - If something goes critical, it'll warn you. Instead of having to constantly scan across a multitude of guages.

Think of them more as cheap insurance!

I'm sure they are excellent for the track, where RPM is all important, but try driving on the prublic road with a tiny LCD readout for your speed. The astra dash is probably easier with those chunky digits but even so I'd much rather have a dial that I can see, rather than read. Much the same as how it's easier to tell the time with an analogue watch than a digital one.

If you're going to have an american engine....

    have an american dash ffs!

My only time across the pond was in 1983, the year of the Vette. A friend of my Dads ran the local GM dealer and gave me one of the first full colour book-style brochures for the 1984 'plastic' vette. I've still got it hidden away but I distinctly remember that car had a fantastic digi dash!
    Googling away I found these:
