AND you try to find a trader who will actually pay Glasses Guide trade money for a 7....it just doesnt happen. They are DEATH to sell
So while Trigs car looks good value....a 4litre V8 48v BMW looks better value !

My car looks good value to me cos I bought it for 2k, I've bought a clutch and some new tyres, my phase chips were swapped for a PS2 that I hadnt even plugged in for over a year and I could now sell it for 3k..Originally Posted by Zak33
When it comes to me actually selling it I'll still b able to get more than I paid for it, unless I crash it of course n then I'll prolly not get more than £1500 for it in parts
didn't mean it like that, fella. I know its a good value car. Wasnt dis'in it

Unfortunately I currently have £0k to my name but if the wife gets a full time job at some point I may well be looking to buy next year.Originally Posted by Zak33
Edit: it's got to have these wheels I reckon (don't like the colour of this one as I said):
Traditionally, the bigger the beemer, the quicker it depreciates. A 1996N 3 series that cost half as much new will be worth the same or more as the 7 series now. Merc S-Classes and big Jags also drop like a stone. The trouble is, the bigger the car, the bigger the bill if it goes wrong. Insurance on these is pretty reasonable, I at 25 w/ 5 year NCB can get a quote for £500ish TPFT or £700 fully comp for a 740i.
The 3 series is no longer looking like such a solid investment though, just because there are way way too many of them out there now. Values are already sagging, a lot of people are set to get a nasty surprise when they look to move their 3 series on in the next year or two!

I talked about buying it, but I was only about 18 at the time, I needed the money I had for uni, and I'd never have been able to insure it.
I like the later generation 6s more, they look even sharper. As I said though, any affordable car will almost certainly need new sills; they're £300 each from BMW and you can't get pattern parts. Add in the welding and you're looking at close to a grand just to get the sills sorted, before you start on all the other little things that a car in that price range will need doing to it.
