your right, its not too bad, the one in halfrauds i saw was a double din 2 socketer and looked a mess, especially for 2 grand odd

So if i buy a Tomtom Go, do i have to pay to update the maps later on?

Haven't got a clue mate. A TomTom Go is different from the PDA Navigator software so I assume so

With any of the sat nav systems you have to pay to upgrade the maps later on, this is not down to TOMTOM its down to the company that provides the map data. There are currently two versions of the TTGo map data doing the rounds, and you cant upgrade to the latest version, its not a paid option yet. With a bit of luck up dated map data for all systems will be out at some point with a reasonable upgrade cost.

Setup is

Toshiba E750 Bluetooth PDA (ebay £150)
Fortuna Clipon Blutooth GPS
Arkon powered amplified mount
TomTom 2
MemoryMap navigator 1:50,000 OS maps for all UK, some 1:25,000 and some photo coverage of SE UK. This runs on both my PDA and laptop (laptop has all the maps, PDA hadles smaller areas)

On the gps side I aslo have a Garmin etrex that I use with a varity of stuff including my telescope/laptop combo and links with my laptop.
