    ^ What he said

E.g. on my first rolling road reading I achieved 145hp at the fly wheel and 95hp at the wheels, so a 50hp loss through the transmission (gearbox, driveshafts, wheels, etc).

WHP is what you actually experience when driving a car.

As shad says - WHP is what matters.

Take a skooby for example, it may put out say 230BHP at the flywheel just like mine, but the amount of power thats sapped by having 4 wheels to accelerate, the front diff the centre diff the rear diff 2 turn, 2 lots of axles means that the amounf of horse power it puts down onto the road is considerably less than mine, which is why i can kill scoobies from a rolling start (not standing start mind, 4wd always gives a huge advantage), i may be putting say 170-180bhp down onto the road, the skooby may only be putting down 140-150bhp.

Are you on about the new Bug eyed STi Scooby? There's no way a 200SX would outrun it unless it's had thousands spent on it.

It's irrelavant; Butuz was making a point about how more complicated transmission systems will cause a greater loss of power than simpler systems. That's the point of this thread, not "my willy's bigger than yours"

As shad says, i was just trying to give an example to Zak about what WHP actually means.

I took a skooby as an example of a 4wd car with alot of power loss through the transmission etc, it could easily have been an evo, or a skyline, or an audi quattro, or any other 4wd car with multiple diff's, they all suffer from the same loss of power which means that in gear, on a rolling start they are noticably slower than their 0-60 time would have you believe.

Until youve driven my 200sx, you cant say how fast it is or what it can and cant do. I havent had it dyno'd yet, but it should be running about 250bhp at the fly. Thats enough to scare the living bejesus out of people who dont know what it is, and have spend lots of money buying fast cars like civics and skoobies, they dont notice me, until i accelerate away from them popping and flaming as i go. I did a Honda S2000 on the m4 the other day so bad that he refused to overtake me from then on in, even when i slowed down to 40 perhaps he was unhappy that he had just spent over £20k on it, and i hadnt

Yeh its funny, i drove that the other day for the first time in a month. It felt like i was driving a bus! So high, and wallowy, and slow. And to think i used to think the 2.0 focus was a decent speed, good handling car! Funny how your eyes can be opened isnt it?

Anyone wanna buy a focus 2.0 ghia a btw?????

    "Computer says no"

Focus is best handling car in its class and i loved driving it for nearly 3 years. Did a lot of fancy cars up powerstation hill in that such as Golf VR6's.

Its just not quite the same as having a turbo'd RWD jap nutter car
