    CRX-UK at Millway (56k warning)

Went down to Millway in Andover yesterday for a rolling road meet with some guys from the CRX-UK club. Great to see so many CRXs in the same place; we counted 12 on the rollers and in the convoy! I'm in the process of editing down nearly the 2 hours of video we took but CH1EF (Andy) took some excellent photos, some of which are here.

Anyway, my car was the only 16v so I claimed best 16v result! However, it was the lowest overall result Still it's an improvement over the last run, now with 137hp @ 7466rpm (at the limiter) at the fly wheel, and 112hp at the wheels. Not got an accurate torque figure but reading it off the graph it's about 105lb/ft @ 5500rpm.

    Video to come!

Mark, who's got a black SiR, made 270hp at the wheels before the dipstick popped out at 7800 rpm, creating a huge cloud of smoke as the oil in the tube burnt on the manifold. He's running a custom turbo that he designed himself, along with a £750 hand made custom exhaust, and all new custom engine internals. It was running at 12 psi yesterday and the engine (with 750cc injectors, only 550 at the mo) will take around 500+ hp. All from a 1.6 litre block

And the guy fiddling with the exhaust, he was taking the bung out the back to see what gains it would yield. Ans: 1hp and about 10lb/ft more across the board.

Do they go faster with black hoods?

I really don't understand the attraction.

Yup trig, lots more power. The engine internals have been designed with 500-550hp in mind and the turbo and exhaust are ready for it. But the current injectors are at 90% capacity already!

Black bonnets are usually cabon fibre. The ones in the pics from the meet all are. You may be surprised in the weight difference between the two!

Nice one shad! A friend of mine had a crx delsol SiR and that was pretty quick - im guessing the coupe/hatch shape one that you've got is pretty similar to the delsol ones? How do you find the handling? I reckoned that his SiR tended to roll a bit too much in the corners for my liking - but i guess thats why people mod things

They tried to sell me a Unichip too. Unfortunately for them, you can do more with a standard ECU than with a Unichip

Ah the Del Slo. Universally hated by Mk1 and Mk2 owners, because it's basically not a CRX and doesnt deserve to use the name. The Mk1/2 cars are much faster and handle far better because they weigh so much less, and have a much better chassis and suspension setup.

i cant see how adding bigger injectors will suddenly gain him an extra 230 bhp "plus" if this is the case then i hope he has a fuel air meter installed because my guess is he aint running stoich and he would have multiple red lights flashing .....

hes seriously under fuelling and better get those injectors very quickly , he may well have parts rated for 500 bhp whether they last will be another story

at a guess its because he has got smaller injectors (smaller being relevant to the size of the Titanics injectors ) that he has his boost lower than potential and therefore is not needing the fueling yet.

However.,....500bhp from a car like that is.....
