    Number plate question

How much information can I dig up on someone if I know their number plate? Home address and/or telephone number would be most useful.

tricky one, presumably information like that is only viewable by police and DVLA.... i find it extremely unlikely you'll find somewhere that will tell you that sort of information because of the data protection act

just out of curiosity.... why you need to know?

Most days a purple N reg Polo pulls up outside the house in front of ours across the street, and sounds its horn. They keep sounding their horn, revving their engine, playing their music loudly, until the snotty youth emerges from the house.

I can deal with this if it's during the day. But not at 2:30am in the morning, or half 12 in the morning, or the various other times it's been late at night for the past n months. Obviously sounding a horn in a residential area after a certain time (11pm isn't it?) is illegal. But it's incredibly irritating as well, particularly if you're sleeping at the time.

I'm not a violent person in the slightest; but I'm getting increasingly close to doing something I'll regret. I need to know what the best legal and non-violent solution would be, without them knowing who's got the hump (I fear for my car and my parents property).
    That's why

Alternatively, throw a few carpet tacks on the road where he pulls up before you go to bed After 2 or 3 times he might get the idea?

It's because if someone steals a car thats identical then they can browse the internet and see your number plate and clone it.

So basically you'll have a stolen car and a legit car with the same plate which look identical.

Or look on the net to find a car the same make/model/colour as theirs, clone the plates and drive in and out of London a few times, or past a few cameras at the limit +40...

Part of the reason you need a DNA sample, Retina scan, and three major organs in a box to get a new set of plates made up.

    Simplest solution.

Maybe worth persuading neighbours to also do this, so the police actually take notice.

That reminds me, I saw the number plate MYN 5 X in Watford at the weekend. So, what was the car? (Yes, it is the obvious answer).
