Disappointed that you've not gone and bought a Jimny!
Wicked little motors they are.
yeah... . Fiat gave up with it, likely didn't break enbough to keep their garages profitable... it's very Suzuki

I hadn't heard of the SX4 before. The hatchback is a little reminiscent of the Peugeot 205 (yeah, I'm that old!).
As for those bashing Fiat reliability...I have a 15 year old second-gen Multipla still going strong! Admittedly, it did require a new floor welded in a couple of years ago...!
lol, you know I've been through so many Italian cam belt changes I didn't even think to mention the water pump change, it's just something you do. Tensioners usually come as part of the cam belt kit.
... For the benefit of those that don't know, there is a tendancy for Italian engines to have the water pump under the cam belt. If the water pump goes, then that's a cam belt change. Water pump is usually about £30, and a cam belt anything over £300 (more like £600 on a Busso V6), so rather than risk it a competent garage will tell you to change the pump. That goes double with the 1.9 mjet diesels where for some reason they drive the water pump from the cam belt, so if the pump seizes then you snap the cam belt.
The main problem I see is that the belts are rated for quite a few miles, but being a rubber compound also a limit of usually 5 years. 7 years in, owner is going "nah, nowhere near 60K miles on that yet". Twang.
theres another problem
When Fiat Alfa GM made the 1.9 Diesel they chose to use a PLASTIC impeller (propellor) for the water pump but with the required metal pulley wheel on the outside like normal
the plastic inner water pump impellor then disconnected itself from the pump shaft. It LOOKED OK on the outside, no water leaks are seen, no pump bearing noise and at tick over the temp is fine..but drive it... and they overheat and do a head gasket because the pump isnt pumping fast enough
replacement water pumps MUST have an all metal make-up
Tbf other brands us plastic too. VW for example

Of course it's going strong... When sheer embarrassment stops you from driving the thing out in public, it's not that likely to wear out!!
Incidentally, there was one featured in Car Throttle's latest Daily Driver challenge, recently.

I had a look at that video...felt quite nostalgic. My Multipla is the second-gen shape which did away with the infamous 'frog eye' lights. It does make it look a little better!
