Might be an obvious one, but roundabouts are counter clockwise

Contributing obvious "lol drive on the right lol" answer.

Seriously though, just take your time and be careful, it will take you a while to get used to it. How long are you going for?

Drive with a passenger if possible, they can look out their window and help you when driving as you'll be on the wrong side...

if you're driving a left hooker... lock your door when you're driving... I know a german bloke that came to live over here, and he nearly had several accidents cos he went to change gear, smacked the door instead and opened it....

Best bit of advice is for when you get back; After three weeks in France, you'll pull of the ferry in Dover and trundle along on the wrong side of the road.

Make sure your insurance and breakdown cover are all ok for driving in Europe

Also check the car is generally in good health before you leave, might save some hassle later on.

if you ever need to overtake someone you'll need a passenger. Bear that in mind.

dont speed on the toll roads.

The tolls record what time you entered the toll section - if you arrive at the next "payage" before you ought ot have , then you'll get an automatic fine - payable on the spot.

ditto with the toll roads, and try and stay clear of Paris!

The non-toll roads over there are simply amazing anyway, the toll roads I think let you do an extra 10 or 20 kph. I drove down to the loire valley last summer - was amazing trip and week there. Hope you enjoy the trip!

As I understand it in the last two years France has gone speed camera crazy and they can fine you and chase the cash back to the UK. Luckily the points systems are currently incompatible but that's soon to change.
Autocars advice was not to stray above 85mph.

    Enjoy yourself!
