    problems with my peugeot 306

ive got a peugeot 306 xsi 2.0 and for some reason the car just cut out completly when i was driving. ive had the idle control valve replaced but apparently this could be a fuel injection fault or an ignition fault. has anyone had a similar problem, the car doesn't start what so ever now. i think its fit for the scrap yard to be honest! im sick of it... french piece of s**t!

The idle valve will tend to lead to it spluttering and conking out when you pull to a stop.

Did it feel like an electrical type stop (sudden loss of everything) or a mechanical type stop (juddering, spluttering etc etc then stop)?

My 306 has cut out before but it was very cold and I drove it hard without letting it warm up. It just died when I puled up at some traffic lights

My NEW!!! electrical headache is i slammed the drivers door a bit to hard and from then my central locking wont work and front electric windows dont work ( rear are manual). Ihave 306 xld, diesel, not turbo, 1.9 litre, 1994. I had parked for the day at work. coming in the evening to get home, the car was in total silent mode, so sound coming from the engine; all lights glowing pleasantly from the dash board. however Im push staryted it and it obliged. I replaced the starter, and it can now at least fire, but the engine does not run. As i crank the engine, the alarm comes on and will not let up till the stipulated minutes are over. I am completely helpless with the key in my hands, cos the alarm does not respond.
What could be going on here?, somebody help.

Re: problems with my peugeot 306

My peugeot 306 xn had an idling problem and later had its carburator cleaned .It failed to start up since no power was passing through to engine HT leads.I got help from auto electrician .After driving for a while I heard a knocking sound from the engine.I had to park it and look for correct advice which I haven't found up to now.

Re: problems with my peugeot 306

Hi, recently i have been getting noises coming from the drivers side (right hand) underneath the pedals. The noises are identifiable as 'Knocking or grumbling' noises. They tend to get much louder when decreasing speed (at a very low speed) and with no pedals depressed ..however, it gets even louder when the clutch is depressed and the steering wheel begins to pull to the right, like something is gripping on and off of the wheel.

Now, i have recently had a new clutch fitted, but this issue was happening before this. Its quite hard to desribe an exact time when it happens, as there isant one. Sometimes when driving at speed, the wheel begins to grip to the right, and when turning left theres a clicking sound. If you were to listen carefully, there is a constant faint knocking sound in the background.

I realise the information above may not be very detailed, but i would appreciate any suggestions as to what it is, and how to fix it?

    Many Thanks.
