are there any other mr2 restorers about (apart from the obvious mr2dc and mr2oc) my brother and me are just about to start a nasty one. (No rear arches, holes in both sills, the front cross member fell off, in fact to save space, there is no rust on any of the tyres or the glass, but everywhere else will need welding) just wondered if anybody has any pics of work in progress. we are practicing on a mk3 supra...

If its that nasty, you're probably better off looking for a better base car to start with - There are still good cars to be had for not a lot of money.

You need to host them somewhere like www.photobucket.com, or your own webspace if you have any. Once they're uploaded you can either just post the URL or you can put [IMG][/IMG] tags around it so that it displays within the post.

you should see the mk3 supra we've got to finish first.....currently run out of gas for the mig welder and the place that we get it from also has a fine selection of lagers, which is also hampering progess...

Welding supplies and beer eh? Sounds like my kind of shop.

That car is a bit of a shocker though, good luck with the rescue operation.

A big wide arch bodykit would hide all that though

    Ouch!! Thats a bad un!

Seriously, look around and you can probably fine a better starting point; There's good money to made in breaking them

BTW - Excellent wheels - TSW Evo's were on the list for mine, but there a sod to find! Suit the car very much.

if you take a look at the link (or c+p)http://groups.msn.com/AmigoFriends/wasrusty.msnw -it's not mr2 related, but shows you the mr2 is not that bad...this camper is now rust free...

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying it can't be fixed (heck, you should have seen the state of Unki si's Mk2 escort!) The point I'm trying to make is that it's always better to start with the as good a car as possible. Front Bumper bars are like hen's teeth (and £200 new from toyota), rear arches around £130 per side. Dread to thin how much filler is already in that rear wing where they've mounted the not-so-flush filler cap!

If you need any help or advice, drop me a PM
