Read the last paragraph Marcos - It's states that the 5-door Civic will be unveiled 'next year and the type-r in mid-2006', so it must have been written last year? The article is old, guess Ford pulled the plug on the Focus Cosworth more recently...

Strange, i heard about the cosworth being scrapped before the RS hit the market, this article made me think they brought it backOriginally Posted by luke313
last I heard the next RS focus will be moved up in spec and an ST model will be similar to the RS ones that where built.
But who knows?
The Focus ST will be a five cylinder turbo with about 225bhp. It's in this week's Autocar.
5 cylinder turbo? Is that pilfered from Volvo perchance? Or ground up?
There was previously talk of the new Focus RS having somewhere in the region of 350 bhp from a volvo derived engine. Last I heard was that it was not a certainty for production, and it might now have been completely scrapped.
I have a feelig this may be the fabled "Focus Cossie"
The Caped Crusader :-)
Yeah it's the Volvo engine reworked a bit.
I'm guessing theres a lot of headroom in that then...Originally Posted by Rave
well seeing as that volvo engine is already put up to 260bhp in several volvos i'm pretty sure the 225 is a conservative estimate (that very engine has been doing 225 bhp since 93). its easy (chip) to tune up to over 300bhp, and some have been known with 4-500. put that thru the front wheels and this happens..

ooooh
volvo are working on a 6 cylender replacement, pushing out 3-500bhp i believe. they already have the t6 (which is just an extension of the t5 - simply an extra cylendar bolted on), but this is apparently different..
this being the case, it would almost cirtainly not be called a 'focus cosworth' as i believe cossie are a separate company these days, and that name relates to thier engines (unless they did some work to the volvo engine to make it 'theirs'...)

Audi own cosworth now....
Civic Type-R
Mid-2006. Cars initially built in Japan before production switches to the UK along with the rest of Civic 3 and 5drs which are being built from the start here in the UK.
Those I know who have seen the new car are very impressed, especially with the interior. The most recent spy-shots in Autocar (last week) give the most flattering view (imho) and show the rear to be much more steeply-raked that the current car.
In fact the whole car looks more solid and planted on the road than the current car which can look long-thin and a little unwieldy from some angles.
Fingers crossed our pool cars get replaced with the latest model upon release. If so I'll pass a proper verdict your way as soon as!

Lol. Every single car on sale in Europe has a fuel injected engine.Originally Posted by Stringent

Pretty much every car since cats became manditory has had some form of fuel injection.
Some run a single point injector, some run banked and some run sequemtial. Then there's Direct to Cylinder injectoin systems cropping up.
An 'I' badge generally destingishes it as a performance injection system as opposed the the single point bare minimum.

OK - I should've said "the i suffix on the majority of cars"
I did say generally.
The I-vtec's a direct inject is it not?
