    New Toy has arrived

I collected my Ltd Ed VX220 Lightning Yellow, number 56 of 100 made.

She's a lovely shade of yellow, very similar to the westfield that she replaces.

Had a little (20min) blast on the way home, initial impressions are good.
Rides a little firm, but feels very planted and not at all skitty.
Brakes are excellent, first roundabout I nearly went through the screen

Photo's to follow when I've actually taken some.

I don't think any amount of practicing will make getting in/out actually look good.

oh now THAT is a serious car..

andfor once I am in the postion to make sensible, informed and well balanced advice on driving it.

    Ready?

A: Hold the wheel gently when you're going for it in a straight line.....let her feel the road her own way, and tempt her into the route you wanna go. Allow that chassis to overcome the ridges, and don't fight....coax .....cajole.

I'm being serious, it's a real knack. I have done a few miles in the VX220 and the majority was flat out. She is the finest. Ignore Lotus Elise drivers. They no not what they purchased. Your engine is a shining light of pure grunt.

2: brake HARD on entering a tight corner in the dry and FORCE the nose deep into the tarmac.

3: Carry tissues in your pocket, because the gearbox will make you literally dribble. It is awesome.

4: In the wet, drive it like a family hatch in no hurry. She is safe as houses at regular speeds, and will not let you down. DONT bury the front like you do in the dry. Period. It'll understeer like thwaite, and then as you lift off, the arse will shoot around and kill you.

5: I'm very very jealous. The Lightning is a fine car. The black wheel and black hood are sublime.

6: Sorry....but its a finer car that your last one. Much as I admired your last toy, this one is more......perfect.

Never take a lass with a hort skirt out in it. It's just too hard to keep your mouth shut.

And dont forget to literally use your hands to lift your own legs into the car, pull on your own trouser leg to make it bend at the knee high enough off the floor to get in and out.

I'm more jealous that I thought I'd be. And I got a new house today!

Having just spoken to Zak on the phone.....
I think he's gone for a lay down in a cool dark room!!

Tomorrow's going to be a fun day
It's a whole new learning curve and I fully intend to take it steady, she's too nice to wrap around a lamppost.

I know what you mean, went to the press day at the Birmingham Motor Show when this was first presented, on its first day on the stand I got it, and got stuck.

Had to get out arse over head, was well embarassing.

I managed to get out of the exige without looking an idiot. There's a good story there, I'll type it later.

Unfortunatly I looked like an idiot in it as my knees where the wrong side of the wheel.

    Mid Engine

That's why they can have a tendancy to spin becuase of weight distribution/momentum.

mid engined cars are more likely to spin cos the weight is nearer the middle, meaning there is less rotational force required to make it spin. this is also why they are a lot more nippy.

    Cphwoar Luckyy!!

The learning curve aspect will be great... It will feel good to gradually "learn" how to drive her, instead of just getting in and jumping in at the deep end

Happy motoring.... Hope some fool doesn't write this one off!
