    Pod this Sunday

Off to Sanda Pod this Sunday (14th) if anyone can make it. I'm going with one aim, to beat my last time of 15.602

I think I'll be in with a chance... the car should be kicking out the same power but it now has the carbon sunroof, and I'll be removing the front wipers, wing mirrors and door cards for extra drag and weight reduction (as well as the rear seats, tools and passenger seat like last time). still got to master changing into 2nd though without losing traction...

I think a realistic target would be 15.4-15.5

    Fingers crossed!

Hmm not sure the tape over the panel gaps would make any noticable difference to be honest. Some are quite important for letting air escape.

Shall be dropping the front tyres to about 20psi and whacking the rears up to 40 though

Common misconception that one regarding dropping the pressue.
What you ideally need to do is find somewhere nice and quiet, and preferably with a light coloured suface (ideally smooth concrete).
Do a rolling burnout at say 30psi and measure the width of the tyre track, then decrease to say 25 and do the same, measuring again - what your looking for is the maximum full width footprint, you dont want it darker on the outside (as that would show underinflation) and you dont want it dark in the middle (as that would show overinflation) - same all the way through for the win..... apologies if thats teaching you to suck eggs and just my luck that the ideal for you would be 20psi

Interesting, although kinda stands to reason now I think about it. Not going to have a chance to test the theory before tomorrow so I'll do a run with the tyres as they are for road use (about 26psi, slightly underinflated at cold but just right once warm) and see how it goes

    OH

    YES

The day was a bit odd... my mate decided he needed a wee so we stopped at Toddington. Then his Volvo refused to restart. I had to go on without him (and the kit) so I could sign on. Anyway he made it to Pod by about 10:45 but by the time the car was ready to go it started to rain

Then they decided it was lunchtime. So the first run I got in was at half 1!

    But............ 15.324 ET @ 90.57 mph

Get in! I was completely blown away by the time, totally unexpected! Super pleased with the car though I'm very surprised at the difference mirrors, wipers and door cards have made. Maybe I was just crap last time!

I got another run in, after more rain, but it was only a 15.4 and by that time it was 3pm, so we decided to call it a day (as it started to rain again).

So I'm pretty happy with the car (and me!) but quite annoyed at the weather forecasts.

Hell yeah - Ive known it be brilliant sunshine at one end and chucking it down at the other.... im the only one in our office to have called in with sunstroke where everywhere else has been VERY dull

Nice to see you get a milestone Shad - know what it feels like on to the 14's?

The only way I'll be doing that is with K20 steam as I refuse to bother with anything less

    Try it.

    Seriously.

It's not just about times, it's the atmosphere there.

I raced a kid in a borrowed 1.25 Fiesta (in my Clio182) and wiped the floor with him, but we kept going round and did about 3 runs. Each time we laughed, and just had fun.

Deffo go do it if you get chance.
