    Is there a website...

for finding out which "insurance group" a certain car is in? or a way of figuring it out? or how it works? etc.

    Thanks.

If you go to http://www.parkers.co.uk/ then find the car you want. It should tell you the insurance group.
You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?

Either get Auto Express Magazine, its £1.35 or summat and has all the makes of cars and their insurance groups!

Just out of interest, what car are you looking at?

    or go to their website:

    www.autoexpress.co.uk

About another year yet , but I plan to get an older version of a BMW 3 series (e36), between 1990-1995 or something. Still deciding though, and trying to work out all this insurance stuff, Norwich union looks quite good, especially with pass plus.. once you pass their special driving test thing you can get 30% off, which is good for younger drivers, and I'll be doing it all through my dads name so hopefully I'll be able to get some cheap-ish insurance.

Edit:, there we go: http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/in...e/?model_id=89 as long as it's anything below a 328i 2d, then I will be able to get pass plus:

I thought pass plus would help me out...it sorta didnt!

Insurance is a pain in the bum! Apparently lads aged 18-25 are the most dangerous drivers, but ive seen plenty of women drive dangerously! There are also the female chav drivers!!!!

    Its sexist descrimination!!!

    grrrrrrrrrr

    Indeed lol.

I keep changing my mind about what car I want.. I finally managed to find a decent car which I can afford to insure though... BMW 3 series (e36) 316i, anything higher than a 316i costs quite a lot to insure, also been thinking about a vauxhall vectra/astra.

Dont get a 316 though, i mean come on, theyre dire. Get something with a bit of class. E190 for example. Or a capri.

I can pick a decent one up for £2000-£2500, will take up a bit of saving I know but will be worth it

I got on just fine and dandy with something bigger and not that forgiving. Small cars for young drivers are all well and good till you remember the young drivers that could do with something bigger.

There is no such thing as a decent 316. It's a badge snobs car, pure and simple. It's spartan inside, its utterly gutless, it has hard plastic seat backs, dodgy grey plastic bumpers, just don't do it. It's very much a badge first, a car second.

Still, at least it goes round corners - eventually - which is more than can be said for a Vauxhall Vectra.

I think he's more on about the fact that its rear wheel drive rather than its just big. Nothing wrong with big cars, everything wrong with big cars that will throw you into the nearest tree, backwards, if you make a mistake.
