    998cc engine, bored to 1040 (+60thou)
    Fitted with flat top pistons
252degree cam, designed for a nice road cam
Wedged, bladed, hardened and balanced crank
    Lightened rods
    Light steel flywheel
    Fully rebuilt gearbox
    New primary / idler gears
Plenty of new paint Mmmm shiney
New bearings etc and bolts thro out
998 cooper cylinder head, fitted with 1275cc (larger A series), sized inlet valves / turned down exhaust valves.

Ive writen it out on the mini forum i use, so i hope you don't mind me just linking that?

    anyway, here goes:

rob3, you going to go as far as polishing the inlet ports?

Lightening internals is more about making it rev higher, but essentially yeah it's to get more power for less effort and wear.

The 998 Cooper cylinder head has larger valves than the standard 998 ones, but ive gone that bit further and had even bigger valves fitted. The ports and chambers, both inlet and exhaust have been ported/ polished. It should go rather well

All the internals have been lightened, the crank seen in the first few pictures is ALOT lighter than a standard crank. Normaly they have biiiig webs, not the tappered pointy items shown there

Any reason you didnt go for the 1.3? (DOnt know if they ever put it in a mini, but its from the midget/spitfire and should fit cos its the same block) Seems like it might be a bit easier to get more power out of.

PLease dont get on of those stupid center exit exhausts that scrapes along the ground cos it has to touch the wheel well. Get sidepipes, that'd look cool.

He was originally looking at starting from a 1275cc, although it went out of the window (for now - I think he is looking to build another engine with quite abit more capacity, hehe) after he talked to his insurance company.

They'd insure a mad spec 998 and yet simply because an engine had been transplanted (even if it was a totally standard 1275) it'd cost huge ammounts more.

^^^ What he said, but the next engine build is going to be based around a 1275, but bored to 73.5mm (1380) and then stroked to 1460 looking for either 100bhp and 100-100 ftlb of torque or 130-140 bhp with race spec ... Mmmmm

Sweet, how much does a mini weigh? That should be some crazy power if its done right. Shame its impossible to take on the track cos you wont fit in it with a helmet unless youre about 4 foot tall

Thats a pretty impressive bhp/ton figure. What kind of gearing you going for?
