2 Engines bolted together eh.. how about the Mazda 787B 4 yes 4!!! Engines bolted together. here is some info...
"The Mazda 787/787B was a prototype racing car built for the 24 hours of Le Mans auto race, replacing the 767. It used a 4-rotor 26B rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishel engine which produced over 700 hp (522 kW). The 787B's 1991 win at Le Mans was historic in two ways: It marked both the first time a Japanese manufacturer had won the race, and the first time a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishel engine won. The 787B was designed by Nigel Stroud. Two were entered at Le Mans in 1990 but were unable to complete the race. ..."

Nah, it's just a W12 with four extra cylinders. It's not 'literally' two engines bolted together I don't think, I'm sure the cylinder block castings will be one pice as will the crankshaft. See here for more details of the VR- and W- VW engines:

Well- the Mazda rotaries are fairly modular AFAIK; most of them (including the RX7 and RX8) use two rotors, but I'm sure they made a 'grand tourer' type car for the Jap market with three rotors- and it is possible to graft a third rotor to RX7 motors too. It's rarely done though as tuning by turbocharging is much easier. Anyway- it would be reasonably true to describe it as two motors bolted together.

that would be the Cosmo , one of my favourite rotary cars.
The RX7 boys try and have triple rotor conversion done for silly ammounts of power

There was one at this Years JAE with quite the largetst single turbo I've ever seen on it. ( I seem to remeber it was a t88 )
The compressor housing must have been approaching a foot in diameter.

Unless its a turbo n then its more like 150 per...

That looks a bit small compared to this beast at JAE - I'll have a hunt around and see if I can find out what it was I remeber seeing a dyno plot with a very flat torque curve .

lol then if all cars where like that then you could get anything under insurance as all cars would be around about the same power per ltr... in theory

Ive done some more hunting and can confirm that the turbo was a GT42R which makes the T88 look tiny
