Yeah, but shad.
If I ever want to do any kind of sprinting etc, then it needs to meet those standards.
No point buying a non compliant helmet and then 6months later, buying a compliant one.
and no offence but are you saying your head is only worth 75quid?

Fair comments I guess
So is your helmet ok according MSA standards then Shad? (ie the 2 above).
Bike helmets aren't Mainly because they don't have nomex linings apparently and they are designed to take different impacts to car helmets (ie bouncing along a road instead of sustained banging on the roof/doorframe/etc).
It's for for track days primarily, but it does need to meet MSA scrutineer standards so that I can take part in sprints, hill climbs in the future.Originally Posted by ikonia
I've got until Dec 3rd to buy it, but I don't want to jump into it, hence the research now
best thing to do is go to a shop that sells lots of different ones that meet your requirements... and try them ALL on.. then pick whatever one fits you best. You sometimes get a nice suprise when it's the cheaper end of the scale that works better for you....

It doesn't help that mine's on the large size of massive
A _major_ concern with bike helmets is how much noise they make, as wind noise can knacker your hearing even when you wear earplugs. I doubt that's a concern with car helmets.
Yes, for the 3rd time, it meets all the right standards. I did quite a bit of my own research into this when I bought mine and as you say, bike helmets are WRONG for car track use 99% of the time.Originally Posted by CocoPops
I got mind from Pro Bike in Newbury who were very helpful and knowledgable (and the girl on the till was fiiiiiine ). Ironic it came from a bike shop after what I've just said, but it is the right one!!
Fit is obviously important. Just don't assume you need to spend mega bucks on a helmet mate.
