I've always had a soft spot for them (the 1.7). They're fairly small inside but you expect that coming from Fiesta underpinnings. Whilst not the biggest perfomer out there they're seriously good fun to drive, very rewarding and not too bad to look after and live with. They were just out my reach at the time when I was looking, but they're good value for money now so long as you can put up with the leaking in of water when you open the boot.

I wouldn't read too much into 'horror' stories, you get them with all cars and most of the time it's how the car was looked after..

No it wasnt the same car as far as i know. I dont think Nissan have ever platform shared with Mazda. The MX3 is a far better car than the 100NX - the V6 is the one to go for.

I would go with an MX3 over a Puma just due to the 1.8 V6 that the MX3 gets - but the puma is a decent car also.

It was the old top gears car of the year a while ago, the reason seemingly being they could scare their mates in the back of it

Considering you lot i'm shocked that you like this car, I had the miss fortune of going on a fairly long drive in a puma just before christmas and it was HORRIBLE!, felt like my back was broken after 2hrs in the car.

Given what you can get for the same money i'd avoid this like the plague.

I can't believe the support i've heard for this, ITS AWFUL!.

TiG - it's a drivers car, were you driving or being driven?

Also, it's a small car - not meant for long journeys, what would you expect? I could take you for an hours drive in my Clio and you'd come out knackered and deaf. It's not meant for that kind of thing...

I dont believe that for 1 second.

the 100NX was a targe top , which I dont think the MX-3 was ?

    the 100NX has a 1600cc lump in it , the MX-3 was a 1.8 V6

have you any proof of this ?

the 100nx isn't a bad little runnabo0ut , but its more like a sunny than anything else. ( I've heard of some interesting engine conversions available for them... )

100nx was based on mostly sunny parts - though apparnently did not share the sunny chassis.

Either way - mazda used to platform share with ford (Fiesta&Mazda121/Teranno&maverik/Probe&MX-6) not nissan.

Maybe i'm missing the point, but puma may be a drivers car, but its unreliable, its small, the interior is awful, its not meant for long journeys, hence why i've found it suprising that there is this much love for it.

Maybe i'm just feeling bitter for it breaking my back, but was just wondering for £4600 that you couldn't get a different car in the same mould that wouldn't be better??
