So, once provisional licence is obtained, any handy hints where to get insurance for a 17 year old that doesn't need a second mortgage? Have been quoted £1500 to add kid to my insurance, for a 14 year old Golf!

    I doubt it very much

I was paying £1000 for third party fire and theft on a 16 yr old Toyota Corolla, just because I have no NCB... and ive had my license for nearly 2 years (oh and im 22)

You just gotta bite the bullet and pay for it
