Vauxhall are doing some deals at the moment, could get an SXI corsa for that kind of money. No deposit, 0% APR and free insurance for a year?

In all seriousness the problem here is not because you bought a used car, it is because you bought a fiat. Steer clear from italian and french cars and you should be ok.

Or if you want new car reliability from a 10 or 15 year old car, you will have to buy japanese.

I've just traded in my 11 year old car for a 15 year old car. I am going backwards in time lol.

There is nowt wrong with buying a used car. There is also nowt right with buying a brand new car to be honest. Unless you enjoy frittering away thousands over the next 3 years? in which case carry on!

Have to watch our old friend.... rot. 15 years is pushing into that era where the jap cars suffered.

There again, my 2nd ford was 10 when I got it. 5 years nothing more than standard service parts without a hitch.

hexeh should realise that very small cars are crappy, uncomfortable, and often carry a price premium due to their populariy such that they are not really that cheap.

hexeh also needs to consider the fact there is much more to insurance prices than simply engine size and that a large engine needn't mean a large insurance bill.

hexeh needs a reasonably well built, comfortable, good to drive, reliable 1.6 litre hatchback.

hexeh needs a Ford Focus 1.6.

This is a good point which fails at the final hurdle - the Corsa is absolutely rubbish with barely a single redeeming feature.

Its cheap to run, easy to drive and cheap to maintain. Surely that counts for something? Its not meant to be the worlds greatest car, its a cheap vauxhall that does what it says on the tin.

its being replaced in 6 months, so best not to get one at the moment (if buying new). instead buy the new one, but with a much prettier fact, right now. punto grande ftw

£155 a month, and a fiat dealership should give you a reasonable trade-in on another fiat.. reliability isnt something that will be an issue in the first 3 years - if you really are worried then get an extended warentee - imo you should get something you want rather than something you're getting because its supposed to be a bit more reliable

It's not that cheap at all, there are numerous other similar cars for similar prices from other manufacturers that are simply better, it's only cheap to run until something breaks and 'easy to drive' has to be the most irrelevant quality of any car ever - I have driven cars ranging from Fiesta 1.25's to Jeep Grand Cherokee's and have yet to find one that isnt 'easy to drive'.

It wasnt a comparison to anything else, merely a statement that all the controls are in the right place, everything is within comfortable ergonomic reach and the steering wheel and pedal are light and effortless. Yes I agree you can buy something much better indeed, but for a brand spanker for no deposit free insurance and £200 a month finance you wont get much better.

Unless you've got feet bigger than a toddler, then it's very hard to push the throttle without catching the brake.

I still think that for a brand spanker you won't get much worse - a Corsa 1.2 SXi has a list price of over TEN THOUSAND POUNDS.

This is insanity. The car is a bad buy unless it's 300 quid and you desperately need some wheels.
