Aye, TTIUWP now...
Well - as the forums self proclaimed Number 1 Nissan enthuseast - I am afraid I will have to check any pictures of a woman-versus-Nissan nature to ensure they meet Nissan's acceptible content guidelines, before our resident Non nissan enthuseasts are allowed to see.
This is I am afraid mandatory, and you will find it in section 2a paragraph b1 in your Nissan Owners Manual.
Please email your woman-v-Nissan photo.

Oh so that's what they are... used to have one in my block in Macclesfield.
The other half wanted one!
Oh and in Woman Vs Nissan... I drive a Micra... so Woman wins. (unless you like giant rollerskates)
When a woman is driving a Micra on our roads, nobody wins...
(I'll get my coat)
Why not just buy an old car rather than one pretending to be old? The spec doesnt look massivly high (from the interior shot) and parts and insurance will definatly be cheaper on a proper retro car
Because a 15 y.o. Figaro/Micra will be reasonably reliable and parts will be easily sourced.Originally Posted by herulach

parts are actually pretty scarce at times - particularly body panels - very expensive iirc. as for reliability - possably - but 15 years old is getting to an age where stuff does start to go wrong. i'd take a cappachino over it any day

but for 6 to 8k, maybe not something as rare as a sprite, but certainly something like an allegro, dolomite, mgb, midget, will be in proper tip top condition, more than likely with a recent engine rebuild and a glut of parts available.Originally Posted by schmunk
Or just get something modern and nice to drive

My picture will be up soon, for you ppl to see for yourself
My Wife has one in green, the reason was that she thinks it's very cute and it helps promote her shop/website called Eternal Envy dot com at Heaton Moor, Manchester. [plug over]
We bougth it for £3,400 but there are things to look out for:
We had to but some wheel covers, those little chrome / polo mint covers cost £150 for a full set
Like many soft tops, the drainage is a funny arrangemtn of pipes and drain holes. (I had a MX5 which had much the same problem) the pipes get clogged and the drainage overflos into the boot and the interior. This can cause rust in hte wells in the boot and the interior can smell musty. It's an easy fix but untreates will cause rust and smells.
The soft top shirinks, you will notice a number have the rubber roof seals showing where the roof has shrunk. A new top is only £90 and worth doing, it's only a cosmetic problem.
The suspension is very soft (Although I'm used to a MX5 & celica), also the turning circle is large ofor a small car. Just niggles really.
THe 1 litre turbo will get you along at 80 -85 without too much problem, i've got a 100 out of it but it's no motorway cruiser - it drinks petrol at high speed.
The inteior is likely to have a brown stickyness to it if it's a recent import. The paint inside deteroriates over time and creates a light brown residue that looks like someone has been cooking fried food/smoking 40 a day in it. It can be scraped off with a bit of elbow grease. It's not a problem although appears unsightly.
The interior can be re-painted, the paint costs about £60 from a specialist.
Take care is the leather seats look too good to be true, often they have been re-dyed with the same paint for the interior. The look will not last too long and a gracefully aging leather is more apealing than flaking paint.
The Cd player in unlikely to work properly, it will jump. Again, anyone with an import jap car of it's time will know the problem. The issue is that the cd/tap radio are very much part of the interior so you will not want to take it out. Clarion will upgrade it to a modern ICE at £350 or you can wire in a normal ICE and stick it discreetly in the glove box (that's what I did)
Remember the colours are originally Blue, green and a grey. The grey is the most sought after, other colours are resprays which may not enjoy the subtle complmentary colours in the interior that you get with an original colour scheme.
Watch out for rust and get it serviced 6000 miles.
You do get what you pay for, a good private one advertised at £4,500 may be a better buy when bartered down to £4k than a £3,400 one that needs work. Ours is now imaculate but we've spent £600 + man hours on cosmetics (including alarim / central locking.
