    Driving Test - Passed!

10 minors and stalled 3 times but still a pass for me

Would have been disappointed with the drive too if it was just a normal lesson but luckily my examiner was pretty fair and i held my nerve. Plus i got my 2 favourite manuvers - Bay parking and reversing round a corner.

    Now for a car.......

    Congrats!

Blimey - how many minors can you get nowadays and still pass?! I cant believe you passed when you stalled 3 times to be honest.

Maybe it depends on how you deal with stalls. If you start crying and running around the car - its a fail. If you restart it quickly and confidently - thats not such a bad thing. I stall rentals every now and then (probably once per trip) as I am used to the biting point being really high on my 106. Bit embarassing but not the end of the world.

yeah i know it was a one off though. Havent stalled for weeks beforehand. As dkmech says i just restarted it and got on with it, all 3 were in non-dangerous positions so it was cool too.

Very embarrassed when i stalled of course. Of course the real learning begins now....

Cheers guys. I think i might be giving out the wrong impression here though, although i did stall 3 times alot of stuff was faultless (such as use of signals, both manuvers, planning and clutch control). When i left i was the only one to pass so far today (left at around 10:10) and my test centre is a bit harsh apparantly. Im not completely incompetant hehe.

    Well done.

Also, you don't fail for stalling, the examiner doesn't care if you stall. All he/she cares about is how you handle it, if you promptly slam down on the clutch turn the key and go in a safe manner, it's most probable the examiner will merit you for using initiative.

If you stall and just sit there fumbling about in the middle of a junction or something, then it gets a bit more serious

Your allowed to make the same 4 minor mistakes before it gets marked down as a serious driving fault, so you were very lucky!

I was told by my ADI that if the DE thinks your general driving is good he'll overlook some minor things, i hope so, i was told my general driving is really good, but need to brush up on bay and paralell park, got my test in 6 weeks or so so hopefully i'll be ready.

Congratulations btw, wishing you lots of safe and happy motoring

Lol Emu, I took my theory twice aswell... except I took my theory, failed 3 test then needed to retake the theory by the time i booked my 4th lol. Managed it the 5th time though on an awesome test, pretty much everything was great, think i only picked up 4 minors at most...

Most annoying thing was having my car sitting in my garage waiting to be driven lol.

Well done Cougho it's a great feeling to pass your test, sure you deserved it! And good luck to Shelley as well!
