    advice on new car

right if i have to get a new car (if insurance scraps mine )

i want another 1.4 to keep insurance low (bearing in mind im 19)
i want it to be small ( about the same if not a little bit bigger than my 306)
it must have 5 doors ( as iv got baby on way)
and must me less than a £1000 (going for cheap and cheerfull but reliable)

so please a list of any 1.4s that match that discrption would be great

oh and not a fiesta lol

    thanks

    kitty

Vauxhall Astra. Fiat Brava. Err.. Citroen Xsara maybe... TBH things with bigger engines in the same sort of "bland" class won't be too disasterous on the insurance. You're a girl so you get it easy! A 1.8L Mondeo will be fine. Not sure you'll get anything 100% reliable for £1k though.

    I just thought... Honda Civic

Howard i need a 1.4 as insurance for them for me being 19 having got no claims now thanks to the tarts who stole my car and my conviction (theft of my car) comes to £695, i did a quote for a 1.6 and it took it well over a grand so i need a 1.4.

petrol i think guys im used to petrol so wont be getting mixed up with it when i go to fill up lol

Okay fair enough. Shouldn't count as a conviction though.. That's a motoring offence, you didn't cause one, you just claimed for your car being stolen. But anyway most of the cars I suggested are available in 1.4 form, and offer you a bit of space inside

a larger car with larger engine shouldnt cost much more to insure - have a look at small engined versions of the next size up - 1.6 or 1.8 td mondeo, slow, but probably no slower than your existing car. i got a 1999 mondeo estate for under a grand - and the estates hold their value better than the others in the range..

volvo 440 came with a 1.6 and is a safe car if you've got a nipper. volvos are dirt cheap to insure too. if you want something smaller - rover 214s are cheap to insure, and the most powerful 1.4 since the gtt iirc
