Hope he pulls through and recovers completely.

I'm surprised it was Hammond driving the 300mph jet car and not the more experienced Stig.

The stig is bored of those kind of speeds.

*awaits the backlash from health and safety*

Hope he fully recovers and that the Top Gear crew are able to successfully keep their show as it is - if all my license money went on making this show even better I wouldn't mind at all

The jet engine would have drowned out the sound of the Stig's language CD, so he wouldn't have been interested.

C4 is now reporting 'serious but stable', which is a good sign.

Its a good choice. But there is more than just one air ambulance doing a sterling job in this country, and its a pity it takes a tragedy like this to highlight the serious financial problems that air ambulances' face

If that wasn't hammond, if it was jonny no mates from down the road - people wouldnt have donated 3 grand in such a short space of time, and i find that very sad.

Nope, thats not the only air ambulance in the country - but the others also have their own fundraisers - Such as the Essex Air Ambulance bike ride, which I am proud to say I supported (last year they raised £20,000).

Apparently he had gone over 300mph, but no-one is sure if he broke the record.

I'm sure he broke something if not the record

Expect Top Gear to get canned now - the beeb would love the opportunity as it doesn't fit in with a 'PC' society..

Well according to firefighters he dug a hole with his face, even with a crash helmet that cant be good for you.

The beeb have tried to can Top Gear a few times, it's just too popular. It's a worldwide hit which is a big source of income.

If he was driving anything that looked like the Vampire they were showing on the beeb then I'd be worried - the head is totally exposed at the front with just a roll cage which would of course just dig into soft ground. There is of course scope for a possibly poor taste joke about hamsters there but that should probably wait until we know he's ok.

Massively - it's got a huge distribution. The show will go on I'm sure. If anything it's the safety at land speed record attempts in the UK that's going to have to be tightened up.

I felt like crying when I heard this Richard Hammond is absolutely fantastic in everything he does, loved him when he presented Crufts last year, and the Boys love him on Brainiac as well as Top Gear

Thoughts are with his Wife and Kids, lord knows how they are coping
