    Antec Nine Hundred..

    Hello,

I've just got my Antec Nine Hundred and there's a few things that 'im wanting to do it and as looking for some advice.

I want to tidy up the cabling a bit and was wondering if anyone has any tips as to cutting holes into the frame and then taking cables round the back of the case..

    Also,

Since the PSU sits at the bottom, if you have it the right way round the PSU fan points to the bottom of the case which i'm assuming doesn't really do it any favours, wondering if this would actually cause any problems.. Didn't really fancy cutting a big hole in the bottom to fit it in.. The PSU is a Corsair HX520

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Iain.

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

There should be no problems at all turning the PSU upside down so that the fan is pointing upwards
It may in theory be better than the right way up at the top of a case and the air comming into the PSU at the bottom of the case would be cooler than the air at the top of the case.

You could cut a hole in the bottom of the case so it draws in air from outside the case but only if it's standing on a hard surface (bad idea if it's standing on carpet)
The 900 does have feet that raises it off the ground? if not then that another no no to a hole in the bottom.
One benefit to this is you could make an air filter to keep dust out of the PSU

As for cable tidying, I'll leave that to someone who owns a 900

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

    Iain,

I've just taken delivery of a 900 and plan to do the same thing re: wiring. Can we compare notes on this thread? I have a thread on the projects log re: my new build (Project Gransden) but as your enquiry is case-specific, it may be best to keep the subject in your original thread (plus, you beat me to it...)

There's an off-site thread that shows cable management for the 900 (or a similar) case which I have taken note of. I'll link it here when I find it again. It looks interesting and, having examined my new case today, I think it looks plausible without too much effort, provided you plan out the routes and lengths of the cables to be hidden.

Not sure about the PSU issue, but I'll see what I can find out tomorrow.

    Regards.

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

    Hey Team42,

I didn't think it was going to be too bad myself really but it's turned out to be a real pain..

I've got a cable tidying kit arriving today so that will hopefully spruce it up a little bit, what i plan to do is just get all the cables in the right place, and just zip them down to the little bridges on the bottom of the case..

I think that cutting into it will be a total last resort if the cable tidying kit doesn't do it any favours,

I'll let u know how i get on,

    Iain.

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

To be honest it really doesn't look too bad considering as to what it looked like before...

It wasn't just cable ties, it was the cable wraps that done the trick, used the cable ties to hold them all down to the bottom of the tray.

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

Do it! I've just finished a P180 watercooling project - Antec don't leave many options with the PSU chamber do they! Made me do some creative wiring indeed. As for the orientation of the PSU - I have mine with fan down, and it's happy as larry - with only HDDs in the bottom with it, it doesn't get too hot at all, and shifts a lot of air of it's own accord

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

I've built a few pc's with the antec 900, i must admit, that they could require a little more room...

All i did was spend a bit more time than usual on the cable tidying... modular psu's are helpfull, as are sleeving kits and cable ties, the clips that are on the case come in handy too.

For the price, not a bad case at all, although it's a bit like marmite, you either love it, or hate it

I managed to tie most of the cables to the corner of the hard drive cages..most of them!.hid some under there too..tied some to the edge of the case etc..there's still a couple i need to find a space for...takes some lateral thinking if cutting equipment isn't used.

    Re: Antec Nine Hundred..

I turn my psu upside down as well of course my psu is at the bottom and it works prefect. i think that will help keeping the main chamber cool and smooth.

Tell me about it, I have a Tagan 900w PSU with literally a 2.5" to 3" diameter, stiff, solid mass of cable coming out the back, I have them tied all over the place but the bottom is still a snake pit, under the bottom bay is jam packed and the non windowed side needs a good pushing to close. Still a wonderful case though I dread to think what it will be like when another 2900xt is added to the mix, but thankfully it ain't for a while.
