Look at the Zalman ZM-F3's, ive seen some good reviews for them and they come in pretty cheap.

Re: silent case fans - cheap

If you are prepared to look away from scan (who don't carry a good selection of fans) the Nexus real silent case fan, reviewed at SPCR, is excellent

    http://www.silentpcreview.com/articl...ge2.html#nexus

Also the relatively new Scythe Kaze Jyuni fans are excellent and the best fans I've ever owned in terms of noise and performance. Also reviewed at SPCR

    http://www.silentpcreview.com/articl...age4.html#SS-L

In that review they refer to it as the slip stream series but it is in fact the kaze jyuni series. You can tell by the appearance of the blades (slip streams had fewer blades) and also the model numbers.

Yate Loon fans are worth buying if you can find them, they are the manufacturer for the Nexus quiet fans and so you're getting the exact same fan but without what ever colours and retail package nexus have added at a cheaper price.

Places I've bought quiet fans in the past are:

    Specialtech quiet 120mm fans

Quiet PC Ultra quiet 120mm fans

Yate Loon low speeds if no fan controller, or Zalman F3s if you have one.

Noctua fans, tough they are more expensive, but you get a quality piece of kit or Nexus fans

Second the call on the Noctuas. Sure £13.50 (+p&p) is a bit steep but it's so freakin' quiet! They also include rubber mounting gromits too.

The Yate Loon D12SL runs faster than the Nexus Real Silent, 1350RPM cf 1000RPM, so is a fair bit noisier stock (but much cheaper). I run my Yate Loon case fans at 6.9V, using a 5.1V zener diode wired into the fan lead, this brings them down to around 900RPM and near silence. Good fans but need a controller of some sort.

Zalman come with rubber mountings too. Also they come with voltage reducer so that you can decrease the fan speed. But I used three at one time to cool my triple had with a fan controller
and found they were still too noisy. Using Scythe at the moment with a Scythe fan controlled. Good but still not silent at the lowest RPMs

I agree with this although for quiet fans you do need to slow any fan down because at 12v they just create that bit more turbelence. The zalmans come with a 7v restrictor though so you can see or I just have them plugged into my fan controller.
