    Voltage question

    Hi all
As I was being "dragged" around Ikea today I bought some 12" long "wires" that Illuminate. As they were only 10p I bought a few. The problem is they each run off 2 aa 1.5v batteries. Is there a way I can Run them from the Pc Psu
and if so is there a way to string them together ? And I would also like to have them on a switch on the Pc case. At the moment the switches are : 1 is offf. 2 is flashing. and 3 is on.
    Any help appreciated
    Cheers

Cant you just wire them together? Any pictures? if you can take them apart and see what is going on.
I wouldnt know if you can run them off the PSU but i suppose you should be able to.

daisy chain the wires till you hit 12v, so its 4 in a chain 4x3volts = 12v
must make sure all are switched on and then run a switch to turn them on and off while the PC is running.

you must wire in parallel, so a positive wire to the 12+
the neg from that 1st light to the positive on the 2nd, the 2nd neg to the positive on the 3rd, the final negative wire will go to the switch then on to the earth.

if its running from batteries you might find that you want to compensate for the resitance.

Lots of cheapo designers use the fact that if you put an LED over a battery (which creates a short circuit) the internal resistance limits how much current can go through.

Now the ATX psu will happily allow enough current to go through to make the LED short.

But if its a wire that illuminates, i'm thinking EL. Which is totally different.
