    Would you buy a PS3 60GB for 240 Pounds

A relative of mine goes to Hong Kong today ! They are willing to pick up a PS3 for me for 240 pounds barring any custom fees.

Lets leave the custom fees out of this for anther debate.

    Should i do it ?

Picked up a cheap sony camera last time and its still working 3 years on...

Yeah why not - you could always sell it on for a massive profit if you don't like it

Err, no it's not. It's compatible with 'current gen' region free games though.

I picked up my Jap PS3 for £360 within the UK, even at that price i'm happy with it. £240 is a relative bargain .

    £240 - where from ?
I would do it just to resell it on. I wouldnt buy it for myself though - not one game out that interests me in the slightest. Afterall, its not about the console, but the games you're going to play on it

You won't be able to play UK DVDs, UK Blu-Ray movies or UK PS1/2 games.

    Other then that, you're sorted!

If you've got a PS2 already, then you'll be fine for DVDs and PS1/2 games. If you want Blu-Ray now, then you'll be a bit stuck, but the stand-alone players will eventually be cheap enough for everyone to get in a couple of years, so you can probably hold out!

And many Blu-Ray movies are region free, and you can import US Blu-Ray movies cheaper than you can buy them in the country. The fact there's region coding at all is a joke.

There are a few censorship issues with Japanese PS3s though apparently. That said, personally, for £240 I'd get one - you'll be able to sell it on without losing anything even if you have a change of heart.

    Hmmm

Its 255 pounds atm. Sis checked for me.

However the big thing for me is online gaming and it seems the trend will be reigion locked for onine gaming. I dont really fancy playing with ppl in Asia , let alone the higher latency.

Already have a ps2 so backward compat not a big issue but online gaming is. I got a 360/pc which is ideal for online gaming.

Im tempted to wait a year for a good PS3 game to come out and the price to drop in the uk.

I dont like racing games so motorstorm doesnt do it for me and im spoiled with all the best shoot em ups on the PC so Reisistance fall of man isnt that much of a draw for me either.

Well i have 3 more days to decide i guess.

( Yes I have other consoles so it gives me a better perspective of things imho )

Of course you should you can still play all the uk and us games any way, plus you will have the full ps3, lol no chopping out the emotion engine unlike the uk version! only downside i can see is blu ray movies apart from that get a bargain

p.s maybe this messages a bit late? lol
