I've Just Got my 360 :?

Just rec'd my 360, after all this time I had a good month and broke under the pressure (I actually set myself a high sales target at work, and got it ) that was my justification.

However I read THE DAY i get it that the elite is now coming so:

Do I send it back as I have not opened it yet????

I really fancy the ability to output 1080p, the HD does not bother me as you can add it, the black is neither here nor there so what do you guys think, will prob end up with a PS3 as well eventually, but don't want to regret this decision, but DO want to play my new toy.

Any input would be most welcome

From what I understand the main difference with the elite is the 120GB hard drive (which will be comming out on its own) and the HDMI (think that is what it is called) output.

Also as far as I'm aware it is only coming out in the states at the moment, not heard of a release date in the UK yet.

If you're connecting via component, don't bother, that can do 1080p anyway. VGA can't, though. Plus there's no confirmation when the Elite is coming here and for how much. Personally I wouldn't bother with the hassle for such a relatively insignificant feature.

I was waiting for the Black Elite too but convincing you has convinced me to not wait!

I have only 1 HDMI on my TV (2 but the other sticks out the side, not a great look with cables). As you say HDD can come later and there is no wireless and no reduced nm-die so why wait?

Both VGA and component can do 1080.

The main non-HDMI problem is that many TV's don't accept 1080p over component. Especially ones from a certain manufacturer...

My pet peve with my 360 is the sound. I mean seriously, i've flown on aircrafts that where quieter! I've gone too the length of trying to put little sound absorbing curtains in.

If the black xbox is indeed as roumered too be a smaller chip fab. Then the heat produced will be less. So hopefully the volume would be too.

And here we go again with the noise, its not actually the fans that are noisey its the drive that makes all the noise, try downloading a demo and playing it you'll see that its near quiet play anything with a disk and its loud as hell at least with mine it is.

I'd just keep the one you have. The Elite won't be out in Europe for a while.

even when its not playing a disc, its still considerably louder than my ps3 or wii. (even when they are playing discs).

Its really un-acceptable now they've got competition, as such i'd expect/hope that the elite fixes a lot of the hardware quarms.

When you look at the 360's hardware, its not performance but the fact you have that great big brick, and it is still very loud. Not too mention i bought one of the HD addons, expecting that too reduce sound (no drive spinning, no hdd spining) that turned out to be loud too.

MS aren't stupid, if they can, without raising cost too much solve these noise issues, they will.
