xvid support? wow that would be cool if that was true
Xvid is the major format of all pirated media on the internet, I don't expect Microsoft to promote that on its console. I do however think that there is going to be a big update as XBox Live is down for 4 hours on the 10th of September.

Didn't even happen. Live was down for 4 hours and all I didn't even get anything out of it.
That's because yesterday was not a "dashboard update" but a network and live expansion to ensure a good grade of service and system reliability once Halo 3 is launched.

You're right. I was palying my mate at PES6 about 9-10pm last night and it felt a lot quicker. Almost as good as an offline 2 player.

xvid isn't xvid. xvid is a reasonable reference implementation of MPEG4 part 2 (Advanced Simple Profile), along with divx, 3ivx nero digital
an implementation of MPEG4-ASP will cover all appropriate codecs stored in supported containers
