Re: statspadding your gamerscore WOULD YOU!!!

Agree, paying someone to increase your gamer score is very sad.

I've played a couple of easy 1000 point games but that's because I've either borrowed the game from a mate before he's ebayed it (Madden - which I actually quite enjoyed playing, considering I've never even looked at American Football before), bought extremely cheaply (King Kong £10 - thought I'd have a look as reviews were fairly mixed) or bought by my brother (TMNT - he does like his turle games, he's been nagging me to get the old arcade game on XBLA).

I'll proberbly look at the Avatar game at some point (either rent or when it hits <£20) as I can just see my nephew nagging me to get it 'cos he loves the cartoon (and I've watched most of tHEM with him).

This isnt anything new, there has been gamescore whores since live began. SAD yes! But you will get people buying complete rubbish just to get more gamescores even though they've hated the experiance of playing the game. The nearest thing i've done to statpadding is all pileing into a black hawk on bf2 pre (any patch) and kept lobbing grenades out or keep my ammo pack out while we take all flags, fun at the time and nowhere near as bad as buying gamescores!!

Re: statspadding your gamerscore WOULD YOU!!!

I'd never, ever, pay for gamerscore.

Having said that, I am enjoying free Tesco DVD Rentals at the moment, which includes games, and I'm trying to thrash through them to boost my Gamerscore a little.

For example, yesterday I got Clive Barker's Jericho through the post. Turns out it was a terrible game, far too easy (even on Hard), and I whooped through it in about 6 hours, and bagged me 1000GS (only my second game to have done that for, the first was King Kong )

Re: statspadding your gamerscore WOULD YOU!!!

I've zero interest in gaming for the sake of points or bragging rights and only play for entertainment value. Playing a crap game just to earn achievments is like watching a bad movie - why waste your time?

Those fools that buy their gamer score are opening themselves up to scams. If they're that desparate/stupid they deserve whatever they get. Poor saps.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Re: statspadding your gamerscore WOULD YOU!!!

Couldn't give a hoot about my gamerscore. Created a new account recently rather than pay to change my username and my gamer points went with it. Tragic, but the tears have finally stopped.

The achievements I find quite fun sometimes, but it really depends how creative they are. I don't care about the points rewards, I just enjoy a challenge, and it gets a wee bit more out of a game.

Re: statspadding your gamerscore WOULD YOU!!!

I don't have a 360 or an XBOX myself (prefer PCs) but I know several people with them. One of them would probably do this - he keeps on trying to get me to go round his house and complete games for him - but the others wouldn't.

Highest GS any of them has got is like.. 9000, and most of that came from Halo 3, Need For Speed: Pro Street, Elder Scrolls 4 and a few other games. ES IV is like... 1000, and it only takes about 4 hours to get maxed out Gamer Score. Bioshock gave him about 500 for completing the game (game complete 200GS, little sister saviour 200GS, killed Fontaine 100GS.)

Boosting gamerscore by BUYING it though, is like people trying to cheat on online games through buying gold or hiring people to powerlevel.

Though saying all this, I'm the sort of person that DOES the powerlevelling/selling gold, so if someone offered me enough money for my time I'd do it. Most of my friends have hired me to do stuff for them at some point. I completed ES IV for someone on 360 (all 1000 GS) for £20, and enjoyed myself doing it.

In the end of it, it's up to the buyer to decide if they want to do it, but if it turns out wrong it's not as if they can do anything about it! Add onto that the fact that you'll get laughed out of Live, and lose all bragging rights 'n' stuff it's not as if it's something many people would do

Seems to me it would cheapen the experience, much like buying someone else's ready made leveled up character for an RPG.
I agree with you, dude. Though I have completed some easy games for the point, though the point is I completed the games and I got the achievements. Not some n00b on ebay.

Re: statspadding your gamerscore WOULD YOU!!!

I really don't get peoples logic in paying someone to advance your gamerscore. If it had more point to it (as gold has in MMOs as someone has already mentioned) then you could understand why someone would want to part their hard earned cash for virtual advancement... but gamerscore? It doesn't offer anything other then having a larger e-willy.

I have King Kong, I've got 100 points out of it and stopped playing... it may be easy gamerscore... but its not fun so I didn't bother completing it. I'm currently battling to get 1000 on burnout paradise (200 to go), not because I want the points but its the 1st game in ages I've felt compeled to complete 100% because its so much fun!

I dont get the point in stats padding, if you want to appear to be good its better to actually be good than fake it, imagine if you tried to do the same thing with a woman...

Slightly worrying....

Anyhow, having asked around at school I discovered I knew several people who have actually done this...

One of them (ranked in top 100 for COD4 multiplayer) quit his XBOX live because he got laughed out of it.

Like I said earlier, it's their choice, and their risk... and when they get laughed out of Live, there's not much they can do, apart from start a new account and rebuild that 5-star rep.

I've got nearly 10,000GS... earned it all myself, no way would I pay for it. It's kind of pathetic.
I could take on 28 five year old kids in a fight.
I could name 55 countries in 5 minutes.
My body makes a 58% effective human shield.
My dead body is worth £5750.
I have a 41% chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse.
Im 40% geek.
