Gamerscore - why is mine so low?

I spend far too much time playing R6 Vegas online - i've managed to get to Major but my Gamerscore is still only 150!

How can I get my Gamerscore up? At the moment I only play R6 Vegas online and don't play any other games if that helps to diagnose the cause of my low Gamerscore.

I've seen people with Gamerscores running into the thousands.

Buy games that you think look good and just play them. Usually on a single player campaign you can get several hundred points just by playing through till the end. Then you can move onto completing the game on harder difficulties and attempting to get the more obscure achievements.

It all depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put in I suppose.

Gamerscore is based on unlocking achievements in games, each achievement is worth a certain amount of "gamerscore". Each game has a maximum of 1000 points from acheivements (minus downloadable content acheivements). So if you've only played one game and have only unlocked a few of the achievements thats why your score is so low.

It also doesn't help that the achievements for R6 Vegas are pretty hard to get and it takes a very long time to get some of them.

All you need is more games, and with the help of 360achievements.org, you can get thousands of points.

Thanks for that gtech, you can back to your Sony forum now, I actually don't know why you come here anyway.

In terms of Gamerscore you do need to play right through missions and levels a couple of times to get all the points. If you go the Achievements section in the Game blade of the console, it will also show the other ones you could gain, they are sometimes easier than you think though Rainbow 6 Vegas is a toughie apparently.

I haven't got more than a couple of hundred for most games.

Nobody is forcing people to play the games that you wouldnt normally play.... anyway I thought the PS3 had a trophy system similar to the achievements.

Just get a few more games or rent some from a local Blockbuster/Choices or whatever. Some games are easier than others.

Don't forget there is also a load of good games (some with real easy points) on Live Arcade too.

it is a way to get you to play rubbish games...viva pinata!! kids game but im seeing grown adults play it just to get points/achievments, theres lots of rubbish games out there that people are playing ONLY for achievments, my 360 has sat gathering dust for 6 weeks now (ooh ive only played my ps3 twice in 1 month) so its not about achievments....THIS IS NOT FLAMING....Thats why this guy has a low gamescore because he only plays the games he likes.
and george i come here to read different articles and threads, just because my views are dramatically different from yours doesnt give you the right to say "dont know why you come here anyways" dont take offense from my comments, theres no need for you too, i have been using microsoft products since windows 3.1 so i have a right to comment on them and because i own a 360 gives me even more rights to comment in the microsoft thread. the comment i made had no flamming in it only to MS and everyone here has done that more than once.. so my original comment that it was microsofts way to get you to play rubbish games you normaly wouldnt is true because i see it happening, the person whos wants to be no.1 gamescorer is at some point going to have to play a game he/she doesnt like but will just to get the points..fact.. now please dont come back with silly comments, and to any admins reading this --there is no flamming--, as for the ps3 trophy thingy, i'm not bothered as long as they bring out the games i'm excited about (mgs,re5,gta4), the closest thing i get to awards is getting badges on bf2142, but if dice added a stuffed spanish donkey that you have to hit to get sweets then the awards would stop.

Gtech, Viva Pinata got good scores from lots of reviewers, and its not just a kids game. I'm sorry but its not a "rubbish" game, it might not be up your street, but its far from rubbish.

The achievement point system is great, its a good way of guage how many games someone plays, and how much they play. It also a great way of giving someone drive to complete that game again on the super-duper-controller-smashing-against-wall-in-frustration difficulty level, it adds value to games.

Lets put it this way, if I owned PS3 and a 360, and a game gets released on both (and is identical in the way it plays etc, much like I imagine GTA4 to be), I will but the 360 version - simply because of the fact it'll have the acheivement system.

    you sir, are a moron.

you've spent over a hundred posts showing the world that you're a moron, and this is possibly the finest example.

viva pinata is a fantastic game. it really is. technically, visually, it's a well-made game. it's the 360 game i've spent the most time with, because frankly, it's the one that's most fun. (it's also one where i got 950 of 1000 game******* fair & square, then continued to score all the in-game awards, because it's fun to do so)

lumping "kiddy" and "crappy" together shows an incredible level of emotional immaturity that i don't usually see on anyone over the age of 11.

it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that kiddy media is often better than "adult" media. take movies for example - spirited away versus the hills have eyes 2. which is better? using a meta-review site like rotten tomatoes, it's 97% positive versus 12%. *cough* more close to home, metacritic reviews of 360 games place viva pinata at 84% positive - only 3 games for ps3 are better-rated (and 20 for 360)
