    Re: GT5:P Thread

Been out of the loop on this one, but just wanted to ask on behalf of my bro-in-law, whats the deal with the prologue title. I'm guessing its a taster of some tracks until the full release?

How much content is there in the Prologue? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and that its actually just the 'full' game?

    Re: GT5:P Thread

Well I like it. Yeah the update was annoying, took like 30 tries before it worked. Even though on the box it says 1 player, you can do 2 split screen, but the downer is you can only use cars which you have in your garage.

Graphics are stunning, some of the races are hard though, especially the time trial ones and the one where you have to lap everyone in the NSX. I can get to 2nd but 1st is just elusive!!!

I always think though, now if this were Need For Speed, I'd hit my nitrous boost here ...

    Re: GT5:P Thread

I seen the review of GT5: P on GamerTV on the Bravo channel and I have the say the replays look sweet! And the F1 Ferrai alone looks like it could make the game worth buying.

But I'll take advice of this thread and wait until I have enough money to buy a PS3 without totally breaking the bank.

    Re: GT5:P Thread

Cor heck, I'm having a hard time with this. Really struggling with class A, mainly due to not being able to cleanly pass the AI on narrow tracks like Suzuka. By the time I've cleared the pack the first 3 cars have gained such a daft lead there's next to no chance of catching them up.

I guess I could force my way through, but where's the fun in that. That M3 Coupe time trial as well is doing my nut. I can easily get the bronze but anything else... Nope lol! Anyone managed a decent time on that?

Anyone managed Gold on the Cappuccino time trial? It makes me feel like a noob. I guess you need to do a perfect lap + slipstream the other faster cars on the track to beat it, but it's a right pain. Can manage Bronze no probs, but I think I'm about 2 secs off Silver.

I was 0.089 seconds off a Gold on that one. Livid!

The trick is pretty much what you say - find a car that's a tad quicker than you and just wait till it overtakes, then weld yourself to its backside! The trick I found was find the other 64bhp car that's on he ring and then create a rolling roadblock between the pair of you. You'll bunch up the AI enough to get behind the quicker cars and then hopefully get enough of a tow to put a good time down. Very tricky though!

Anyone know of any video reviews anywhere? (like proper ones, not gamer made ones). Or does this still count as a demo?

Eurogamer have done a written review of it, which was pretty fair.
There's a video preview on Gametrailers as well, but don't know of a video review.

Ive just managed to get the F1 car, what a mission that was the PP700 events in S were the toughest of the lot. The F1 car though is silly fast, and quite a handfull, just another 50odd cars to get now.

So the game cant be that bad as you have just saved up 2 million credits. To be fair half your problems have been with the PSN not the game

Mine updated and worked first time.. great, I dont have problem 1. The ai is a bit crap as is the infrequency of the penalties. But as said its on its first update so things will change now that you can update consol games.

Love to know why turning the traction off ruins the game.. Oh right it doesnt it actually allows you to push the car and get faster times as exhibted in the lap everyone challenge in the Type-r which I couldnt get without turning it off.

Its not worth 17 quid? Back to my first paragrapgh for that.

Dont ruin it for everyone with such a damning report...Especially when you then go and play it for hours on end to get its penultimate car and lke it.

I think its worth buying a ps3 for this game, and I did. Also bare in mind that GTA will soon be apon us(another reason)

Great game, lots of play value, 852 car track combos with a live ranking system. If thats not worth 17 quid then I dont know what is to be fair.

And damage will be making an appearance later in the year according to various sources.

    Re: GT5:P Thread

My main gripes were with PSN i still think that it has some of the worst AI ive seen in a racing game, race on daytona infield and youll see what i mean. Half the cars will drive off the track swerve to get back on the track but in doing so will drive straight in front of either you of a group of other AI cars causing a huge pileup. I doubt in real life people would be so suicidal as to do that.

The penalty system is also laughable, ive driven into walls at 150mph with no penalty at all then on the next lap grazed it and got 7 second penalty. Its also very annoying when you get the dunce AI cars ramming into you and YOU get the penalty and they race off.

Also i said turn OFF traction control and ASM, having them on cripples the cars to the point that you'll never win, turn the car into a corner and the traction and asm will pull the throttle back to the point your hardly moving.

I stand its not worth £17 (never mind £25) mainly because i know that GT5 will be £40 - 50 and will have so much more content itll make GT5p look baron, its almost like a tax from polyphony for extended development. And although there is alot of track combos daytona and high speed ring are hardly thrilling tracks now are they.

Im an absolute whore for racing sims, while i did enjoy racing there is alot that bugs me, i just hope the planned updates to it improve things (hire somebody that can do AI polyphony, that AI you stole from pole position on the amiga isnt cutting it anymore).

EDIT: You can forget doing the PP700 events unless you have the ford gt lm, youll NEVER catch it in anything else. Oh and get the Lotus Elise 111r tuned, its bloody amazing and will easily win the 630 races.
