    GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Just finished Fable 2 to the best of my ability, bought Fairfax Castle and the lot, Want another game to engross me....

Should I choose Fallout 3 or GOW2? I played the first GOW and loved it but found it far, far too short. Fallout 3 I think perhaps may have more replay value? Played the first 2 Fallout games on the PC but from what I have seen the new one looks different, but very good by all accounts.

    What do the masses reckon?

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Reason why I went with Fallout 3 first is that you will get a lot more playtime for your money. I also thought the first Gears was pretty short and once youve seen it, well thats it really even though it is just as good 2nd time round.

At least with Fallout there is so much to see and do. I have heard that you can get through the main story in around 10 hours play. But that is literally it though, you would miss out on so much of everything else it has to offer. I've easily hit about 12 hours so far and barely touched the main quest.

If you have played Oblivion you will most likely love Fallout (I clocked around 200 hours on Oblivion, just so addictive. Done absolutely everything in it). At first I looked at Fallout with jaded eyes with so many hours on the previous Bethesda game but am now right into it and thoughts of Oblivion are gone!

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

I bought both!! I've been waiting a long time for a decent game to come out that I really want to play and suddenly two come along at once! Three if you include Deadspace but I haven't go that yet. Both Fallout 3 and GoW2 are excellent games. For longevity, it's definitely Fallout 3. For hard and fast nonstop action it's GoW2. I'm glad I didn't have to choose
An Atlantean Triumvirate, Ghosts of the Past, The Centre Cannot Hold
The Pillars of Britain, Foundations of the Reich, Cracks in the Pillars.

My books are available here for Amazon Kindle. Feedback always welcome!

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Exactly what I done, got paid 28th and bought Fallout 3, something to get my teeth into. Next payday it will be GoW2, or I might even drop hints for christmas and save some money.

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

It depends, if you are going to play multiplayer then gets gears, if not then i would say fallout as its much much longer.

I'm going to have to give fallout another look at some point as i get oblivion syndrome when i play it (bored after 15 minutes).

But if you liked gears one you will love gears 2, the campaign is a lot better, horde mode is great and the matchmaking system is not quite so good so they need to patch it hehe

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

You need to get past the Oblivion syndrome. Took me a little while, however it was due to me playing Oblivion way to much and when I started Fallout felt just like another ES game.

Thing is though, I now have a few quests under my belt and the world is opening up a bit and it is getting really interesting seeing different creatures and mutants. Some of the quests are pretty cool also, more than one way to complete quite a few of them.

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Fallout 3 gets my vote, for one thing it's going to last you a lot longer, but other than that I'm just not really a Gears fan :/ I bought it and tried to get into it but I just find it repetitive...and grey. Very grey.

I'm waiting till I can pick up Fallout for around £15. No rush getting single player games.

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Well, you will get a lot longer out of Fallout 3, even just doing the main quest line on it still gives more playtime than GoW2 and Dead Space.

Chuck in all the adventuring and searching about and you will get loads of hours out of it. From what I have read though, don't finish the main quest when you are heading that way. Once you do the final bit I believe it doesn't let you back into the world for exploration like Oblivion. So make sure you do everything you want to first. I might be wrong with this, correct me if I am someone as I am doing as much as possible and nowhere near the end!

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Oh really? I would be very interested to know if this is true! With these types of games I always do the main story-line first then go back and do all the extras after, if I can't do it that way I need to know before I get too far into it!

    Re: GOW2 or Fallout 3?

Fallout 3 is one of best games ever made in my opinion. Gears 2 is great but the online play is a big let down compared the gears 1.

    So i vote fallout 3
