Another Xbox 360 in for repair

Mine failed about a week ago, have yet to send it back but its still under warranty.

Just checked and mine is now older than 3 years old therefore out of warranty

Wonder how Microsoft can check the warranty dates to determine that the console are or arent in warranty, as I am sure most people that have had the console since launch day would have had 1 or 2 swaps now anyway

They knew from the serial number whether I had to pay for it or not. Luckily I don't. To be fair UPS have picked it up only the day after I reported it to MS, which I was surprised with. Just hope it doesn't take too long to come back.

Well new SKUs can be powered by previous SKUs power supplies no problem.

Hard luck Steven. I'm teetering around a console decision and this kind of thing really doesn't help.

But that would mean for someone who sent in a new console with HDMI they would get an old one (potentially with HDMI) and those would not work with their current power supply

wow. these consoles still break? i still have mine but dont use it anymore as im afraid it will just break again for the 7th time right in a middle of a game im having fun at playing.

really is bad that MS still have not solved this issue. almost unreal tbh. its as if the problem cannot be fixed at all

Mine is a very near launch model that has been back twice. Not too bad for one of the original hot running exploders!

or buy a ps3 or game on a pc? 360 is not the only way to game you know

Nope, you only go newer - you can't be sent an old one for a new one because of the power changed, but newer consoles work with older power supplies.
