Another Xbox 360 in for repair

I don't believe it. I had my original Xbox 360 sent in for repair about a year ago and they sent me a brand new one back. Now that's got the three red rings.

So gutted, I'd just downloaded the new Fable II DLC.

I guess the newer consoles are more reliable!?! I'm hoping they just send me a new one back rather than trying to repair this one. Why the hell do they have to get sent to Germany as well!

Well new SKUs can be powered by previous SKUs power supplies no problem.

Hard luck Steven. I'm teetering around a console decision and this kind of thing really doesn't help.

Re: Another Xbox 360 in for repair

    Steven,

If its any consolation I think mine is also going to be going back quite soon.

I have a weird fault at the moment that keeps disconnecting me from Live after 10 mins or so logged in, only way to reconnect is to power down the console and reboot - which is annoying.

Might just bite the bullet and buy a new console, although after paying £300 on day of release for the console and it going back twice already I regret to pay another £150 or so for a newer console.

Re: Another Xbox 360 in for repair

Mines on its way out, it never turns on first go and usually takes around 4/5 goes, sometimes getting one ring and giving an E74(i think...).

It's just inside warranty and I keep forgetting to sort it out as the only time I remember is when I want to play, therefore I play

Re: Another Xbox 360 in for repair

Just checked and mine is now older than 3 years old therefore out of warranty

Wonder how Microsoft can check the warranty dates to determine that the console are or arent in warranty, as I am sure most people that have had the console since launch day would have had 1 or 2 swaps now anyway

Pretty sure they would keep a register of the serial numbers and date of manufacture. Both are on the back of the 360

Re: Another Xbox 360 in for repair

I would have thought the same as well, however for example in my situation I bought it December 05, and it wasnt registered or connected to XBOX Live until the beginning of Feb 06 so I suppose if I send it back I might be ok I guess if they go off registration date of the console.

I know they cant go of manufacturer date as sometimes stores have stock for a while before selling, or the distributors have old stock they send to the resellers.

Suppose I could always phone and try

    Unlucky mate
I bought an elite last april, and it had a strange fault that meant it froze on lots of games. When I eventually got it sent off (in about August) it took 2 weeks before I got a new one. Though at least it works fine now (touch wood) and should keep going.

Re: Another Xbox 360 in for repair

I think mine is on the way out too. The screen has gone all wobbly and does put out a 'snowy' picture from time to time. However I may just buy a new one with that is HDMI. I have a spare input in my reciever after all!

Re: Another Xbox 360 in for repair

Just checked mine online and although the standard warranty has expired it is still covered with the extended warranty

If they cant replicate the fault then £50.99 shall be charged.

Just also debating if I should send it back or get a new one with HDMI, could do both I guess then I can use the new console whilst the first one gets repaired ...

A lot of these are older consoles that are starting to fail after a few years of service, or in some cases newer ones which fall over which is just a bit unlucky really.

until the production is moved across to the smaller chips production, or even the combined CPU+GPU thats planned, were going to get reports of consoles failing.

Saying that, there is also the fact that there are more xbox 360's knocking around now compared to the other "main" next gen console were going to get more reports of failure.
