    Elite Death

    No not Halo 3!

Last night got back from an 8 hour drive just in time to compete in a Forza 2 tournament.

All of a sudden - Xbox not reading any games or CD's or DVD's!

Drive just goes clunk really quietly 3 times, and that's it. Doesnt spin up the disk or anything

Looks like this will be going back to MS! Just over a year old too! I guess the Elites are not any more reliable than the older ones then

Nope. Just a half arsed attempt at slightly better cooling i think

Turnaround should be quite quick though, fingers crossed.

    Re: Elite Death

A friends elite suffered the E74 error a couple of weeks ago and he had a turn around time of 10 days from dropping it off at the UPS depot.

Still £60 is a little harsh.

    Re: Elite Death

To be fair I wouldn't call a year a reasonable lenght of time for a gams console. He spent over £250 on a it and he shouldn't have to pay another £60 on top of that just a year later.

Get an extended warranty on it then, they provide extended cover on the rrod and a lot of companies dont give more than a year or charge a hell of a lot to repair after the year

    Garunteed to fail, yes.

It's not like it is a little niggle - the console is now totally 100% useless and not fit for purpose! After just over a year.......thats not he kind of reliability I am used to anyway.

    Butuz
It was fit for the purpose the last 12 months of its "warranty" that you were playing it...
Rather than pay £60 or try to take this further, just buy an arcade, will save you a lot of time and hassle.

XBox 360 Elite Death Proof: Fact or Fiction
It’s true, folks: the “Elite” is the cat’s meow in the Xbox gaming world, free from the design flaws of the original. Microsoft believes that they have built a superior Xbox in the Xbox Elite, that ameliorates problems concerning overheating and video cards that have plagued the company since the birth of the system. Could we be free of the ‘red light of death,’ free of crying while playing Devil May Cry 4, or drinking beer because you’re totally perturbed that the action came to a screeching halt? Does the “Elite” live up to Microsoft’s promises?
