anyone else have retail FEAR2?

just recieved my copy a day early, it loads up steam (for some unknown reason) googling it says it uses steam DRM which is a shame since i was thinking of selling it if i didnt like it (though i loved the demo and all the FEAR 1 titles.. except maybe PM)


is it simply becuase it is released tomorow? the techpowerup is showing that people are playing thier copy now!

Wuh?! Now that is odd! My copy should be waiting for me at home so I'll have a look then but this does strike me as a weird one. They're using steam to unlock or release the games .exe perhaps? It'll be a shame if we can't play until tomorrow

EDIT - Post 35 on this link http://forums.techpowerup.com/showth...t=84675&page=2 The guy may have found a solution (though he obviously struggles with literacy(!) Authorise FEAR 2 from within Steam, it will fail to download, then it installed for him... At least I think this is what he meant!!

EDIT 2 - Arse. Back home now, can't install, have to wait until tomorrow, fikking drm.

Microsoft have reportedly closed accounts of people playing games early in the past. Nothing to prevent them from doing so again.

It still sucks though - we ought to be able to play what we've purchased when we've purchased it. Another case of the good guys getting screwed.

I frequent a certain private site, not a large one, but not small either, and the FEAR 2 torrent for xbox360 had over 1000 seeds 4 hours after it was uploaded

couple of screenies on my xfire profile, got quite scary.. most probably due to lack of sleep, not a bad game bit rubbish in places but still worth a game but defo not as good as the first.

Finally managed to activate my key this morning.
I don't understand why when I've bought the boxed retail version that I'm still downloading the game through steam??

fire, insert the cd and install from the disc. dont manually add the key as youll be downloading 11gb... it will take ages!

I really should cancel but it gives me an excuse to play BPUB* and leave that downloading in the background

*Got the game on the 360 but the PC version just looked so awesome and ran like a dream so I had to buy that too.

OMFG! I didn't know that, I left it on while I went to work and its only at 90%. I am now installing from disk,such a pain in the ass! Thanks for letting me know though.

I really don't like this game, it's just so boring. The 1st game made me jump all the time, this one, well it just makes me think, meh!
