Resident Evil 5 - Versus mode. Anyone picked it up yet?

The Versus mode is now available for download for the 360 and PS3.

Has anyone picked this up yet? I still undecided as to whether it's going to be any fun or not. I guess it's cheap enough, so I will no doubt get it in the next couple of days and have a bash. More achievements are always nice

I don't think it'll be any fun, I just don't see it working very well.

That's what I'm thinking. The game was never designed to have multiplayer, so adding it as an afterthought is not a good sign to me.

Deathmatch in a game where you can't run and shoot? It's just going to be people standing around shooting at each other surely?

The team modes may be a little better I guess. I idea of slayer mode sounds good but I think it will get tedious quickly.

Seems the achievements are boostable in player matches though, so I might still pick it up and try and find someone to boost them with. I know I'm a whore

I'll get it because it's 400pts, so who cares if it's not exactly the best thing ever? It's a few pounds worth of extra content.

Will download in the next few days when I get a chance.

    Haha

Depending on how other people find it, I may change my mind and get it when I start earning again. For now though, much as I like RE5, it's a no-buy for me.

I have it, it's all a bit clumsy and clunky.

No move and shoot = bad multiplayer death match.

They should patch the game to allow one to move and shoot. Apart from the 'clumsy' controls, once you get used to the fact that you *cannot* move and shoot, it proves to be extremely fun.

So far, I have been playing the singleplay story with my cousin as Sheeva ~ a LOT of fun and we may finish the game this way. Annoyingly though, he has exams...argh!

It's not Mike, it's bad. No matter how much you play it.

No move and shoot just doesn't work for this sort of mode.

Oh no, I'm not saying that the current way of control is good for multiplayer - it is plain horrid.

That said though, I've played all the RE games before and having completed quite a bit of the singleplayer campaign so far feel that it might be worth finishing the story.

Single player or 2 player story is completely worth finishing. I've done it on all settings, including Pro, got 1000/1000 cheevo points.

    The multiplayer modes though... bad.

a content that should have been there on the retail game from day 1.

imagine if they released a content on forza 3 to allow you to do MP racing

Re: Resident Evil 5 - Versus mode. Anyone picked it up yet?

Tbh I've not touched the DLC option and do not intend to as I am completely in love with the single player campaign. I played the first five chapters with out my cousin in co-op (he controlled Sheva) and I just reached chapter 6 on my own last evening. Superb graphics and some of the best in-game-engine FMV sequences I've seen. The 360 doesn't even seem to flinch during the high-action scenes.

Filled with puzzles, lots of action and a few surprises this is a definite must have for the 360. So far I've been through rural villages, swamps, research labs, mayan ruins to battles on ships...truly brilliant.

It takes a while to get used to its unique style of playing (no moving when you're focussing your weapons) but after a while it's pretty great; guess I've gotten used to it.
