Is it wrong that watching this made me genuinely tingle with excitement and glee?

Looks amazing - but my daughter and I haven't finished the first one yet, so there could be a nasty feeling of wasteful guilt.
Wise old man won't you help me please? My house is a squash and a squeeze.
I am really looking forward to this although I want new super mario bros wii more
Waw! Looks fantastic
Can't wait for this one...just so much fun
Looking forward to having Yoshi playable again as I really enjoyed the bits with him in (in) Mario Sunshine. I really enjoyed Galaxy - though I've still got one bloody shine to get - and I'm 100% sure I'll buy this and enjoy it too but it looks more like an expansion pack than a new game at the mo considering that the first one really impressed with it's presentation and level design. I'm sure the level design will be excellent here too - very unlikely to be an unpolished Mario game - but I'm a little underwhelmed and that's not how I normally am at the announcement of a new Mario game... Maybe the one Mario game per system and the huge amount of time between releases means I've been spoilt?

The difference with this and other mario games is that in the west at least each new mario game was a jump in tech level even if it was on the same console the graphics where a lot better.
Like the difference between super mario bros and super mario bros 2 and then 3. Each one was a marked improvement graphically
Looks great, but not hugely different from the original - it is a mario game though, afterall.
I think the problem is that most of the prior Mario games were quite different in one aspect or another. OK the SNES Super Mario World was basically an improved and expanded Mario 3 but the level of finesse applied was stunning. Similarly Mario 64 was revolutionary - I can only think of Metroid Prime as another example of a game that made the move from 2d to 3d without losing its core essence. I *really* liked Mario Sunshine despite the complaints. Personally I think it was great - I loved the sunshine feel and the outright playfulness / weirdness of some bits (the block phoenix for example) but I think it was just too difficult for most people. I think Galaxy is / was great too but is in all honesty a bit too easy (apart from that one level I haven't as yet managed to do) and despite the revolutionary environments in itself it didn't really take advantage of any new moves / features outside of that - e.g. the flying / jetpack mode didn't feel like much more than an afterthought. I did like the bee suit though and in that respect I think #2 could offer a lot more alternate modes / dress up features (not forgetting that all we've seen so far is just a teaser)
So happy when i saw this announced at E3 Nintendo may still be the masters at releasing complete tat but this game will not part of that category.
Can't wait for it ^_^
