Finding the time...

Hello,

I have had my xbox elite now for some months. Initially I was very excited when I got it, but the novelty wore off to the extent that I only use it for watching streamed HD movies.

However in light of difficult economic times, I find myself staying in doors more saving the pennies.
I want to get back into the gaming again, what are currentley the best must have titles and any classics that i must have.

Im 28 so kiddyish games arent my thing, although I thought that Small Big Planet game for the ps3 was awesome. is there something similair for xbox?

regards

Re: Finding the time...

Are you planning to play online?
If so here are the online games i would recommend:
Gears of war 2- Good game to pass the time, can be a bit laggy at times but overall its a must have.
COD4- Also very good online, if you wanted to hang around Modern Warfare 2's out soon.
Halo 3- Im gunna stick my neck out and say its worth getting.

Offline games i would recommend:
Bioshock- I just got into it, its encapsulating from the word go.
Dead space- Of all the games i would recommend this most, keeps you on the edge of your seat a must buy.
GTA4- This could also be played online, offline however its great, big and the physics are excellent.

Re: Finding the time...

Another vote for Dead Space here. The game is really tense and always keeps you on your toes with plenty of enemies thrown your way. My only gripe is that tactics and planning are completely thrown out the window. Forgot carefully picking which enemies to attack first and what weapons to use. As soon as you hear an enemy, it will already be in your face. It's impossible to not get surrounded and you are forced to shoot wildly to avoid dying. For me, this takes away the thrill of the game. I'd rather face 1 very tough enemy in which I need to work out how to beat it and plan how I'll tackle it, than 10 easy to kill enemies that just run up to you and hack away whilst you shoot randomly at the mass of enemies in front of you. Still a good game and worth getting though.

Re: Finding the time...

Gears 2 is awesome with friends, so is gears 1 come to think of it..

Deadsapce is amazing at night with the lights up, the volume up loud and the curtains shut (the last bit is so they neighbours cant see you **** yourself every 2 minutes) - cant think of there being a game so atmpospheric as Deadspace since AVP2 as a marine..

If your into your driving games, Forza 2 is huge and has a really big community,

Fable 2 and Fallout 3 are pretty cool too. Fable is a bit more linear though, but saying that fallout 3 gets a bit annoying, once you've been attacked by one set of raiders , you've seen it all before.

Mass Effect is another HUGE RPG< with gret cinema style dialouge but, if i had to big a gripe with it... you fly your spaceship to a planet, shoot some bad guys, get some precious object and fly off again, over and over and over again.

CoD4 is much better than CoD5 (ignore anyone who tells your different) and has a massive foillowing still - i'd say more so than 5.

feel free to send me a FR if you wanna play anything with me

Yeah i would have included Mass Effect as it is an awesome game, but its very slow at the beginning and i think many people are put off by that. Still though its a fantastic game.

Re: Finding the time...

GOW 1 & 2 (both VERY cheap now)
Fallout 3 (again nice & cheap, the most play time per £ I've EVER spent on a game)
Just Cause (for a quick blast plus it's cheap now)
COD 4 & 5
Orange Box (can be had for under £10)
R6V 1 & 2 - Fantastic games, actually I think I might buy 2 & play through it again!
Battlefield: Bad Company

All 'older' games with no kiddy themes, some good storylines/humour & some classics

My 360 has just RROD'd as I was about to play COD5 so i've not played it yet but have gone through the demo a few times & was impressed.
