Half of Xbox 360’s fail

I don't really buy the failure rate presented here, but the RROD and other persistent hardware faults have certainly influenced my decision to not buy a 360. Maybe that's cutting my nose off to spite my face, but I'm sure there are others that have thought the same.

Same. It's just a weighing up for worth for the likely time I'll be using it - at the moment it's not been worth the price for me, but if the reliability goes up, or the cost comes down, then it might be. It's getting that way.

I can't really arugue with MSs repairs policy, my (release model) xbox failed a few months out of warranty and they still repaired it for free and it only took just over a week. That's pretty good customer service as far as I'm concerned.

And it only became faulty after the shelf it was sitting on fell off anyway

My 360 failed not long back (RRoD) they replaced it in under a week.

Yup and if the price/fun comes down to a suitable level then they're up for consideration as well.

I just fixed my E74 xbox error now, and installed the advanced RRoD fix to do my best to prevent it from happening by bolting the heatsink via the motherboard AND case using the X-Clamp fix. They're so easy to fix that if this ever broke on a permanent basis somehow, I would buy a broken one off ebay and repair it lol.
