    Wii Internet Channel now free

    Wii Internet Channel now free
Nintendo has announced that from today anyone can now access the Wii Internet Channel for free.

The Wii-specialised web browser from Opera Software enables people to connect wirelessly to the internet and check out their favourite websites, do their internet shopping and even watch online catch-up TV services (BBC iPlayer) via their console.

The Wii Internet Channel was previously priced 500 Wii Points. For those Wii owners who have already spent 500 Wii Points on the Wii Internet Channel, Nintendo will be offering a NES title from the Virtual Console worth 500 Wii Points. This reward will be sent out in late October.

Re: Wii Internet Channel now free

I saw the flashing blue light earlier today and downloaded it. Damn YOU Nintendo!!!! I paying 500 points for mine! Of course by registering stars not real money, but I "could" have had world of glue instead! I always thought it was ridiculous that they didn't include a web browser, a significant omission from an online offering.

That would've been handy as well, hope they sort it out soon.

I've updated to include the browser, just because, but i'm really not sure when i'm gonna use it!!
I've got my PC for that, i guess if i ever have a problem with that i can always use the Wii.......or the PS3.......or the PSP..........or the Blackberry if i'm really desperate!!

The Wii is loads of fun to play for kids and adults alike, but if you are a hardcore gamer then it is not really for you, the best part is that all the family can play and also most of the family games are in short bursts.
