1000 cars - is this with 40 versions of a Nissan Skyline again like GT4, in addition to the assumption the physics are going to be better when theres no real difference (if any ?) between Prologue and the latest demo, the 16 player races that include nothing but bumping each other but i suppose the damage will sort all that :\

GT5 is going to have to pull the rabbit out of the hat for me to buy it, theres simply going to be too many good games coming out next year.

In what way ? I've already mentioned how it compares to previous GT's and Forza in addition to me saying the seemingly lack of progress is going to hinder its chances of me picking it up when there are other AAA titles coming out.

I'm an avid car and racing simulator fan i believe im the target market - but why would i buy something when it appears to pale in comparison to something ive already got ?

GT5: Prologue, Forza 3, and GTR Evolution. Other AAA games was in reference to the mess of titles coming in round spring, possibly before or after: Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, FF13, Heavy Rain, BF:BC2 etc.

so you are choosing non racing games instead of GT? not target market tbh

you cant put into words what the GT series is, and having 40 skylines is a big part of that. to change it would be a crime, add more cars but dont bloody take anything out

I could be choosing other games becuase GT may not be worthy of purchase for the variety of reasons mentioned - to buy it if its a lesser game would just make you/me a sheep surely ? On the car front yes, having a vast amount of cars is what GT is about and finally they've got round to adding Ferrari's, big one for me personally, but having 40 of the same model, aftermarket tuned or otherwise (im looking at you GT4) doesn't make up for the lack of different manufacturers places that they would/could be taking up.

If you're thinking you might not buy GT5 because you'll want to play other games...then I agree with MadduckUK, you're not the target market. GT is for car/racing enthusiasts, not gamers. I dont even consider GT a game, its a hobby in itself, completely separate to other racing games or any game.

Some people will buy many model airplane kits in their life and repeat the process of building them and enjoying them, nothing radical happens in the history of that industry, the product remains the same its simply an enjoyable hobby. And for that same reason GT5 will sell well, regardless of what other games come out at the same time, and regardless of any major innovations. GT5 especially will sell just fine because it is the first proper HD Gran Turismo game, so its the only choice for all current PS3 and HDTV owners who want to play a GT game, or any driving sim for that matter.

I hate sounding like a fanboy, and i agree that in some areas PD could do better, but the truth is, even if they changed nothing but the graphics from GT4, i'd still happily buy the next GT game

Yup, GT is a multi million franchise in terms of units sold and worth, that has been going on for over a decade. That didn't happen for any ole reason.

Fair enough if you prefer Forza, and if they brought it out on the PS3 i would have given it a go.

I still think GT5 is a bigger game, and ultimately better value for me personally (knowing how many crazy hundreds of hours i normally play each GT game).
